I want a Cardinals win for my birthday! And a Cubs loss would also be a wonderful gift.

And Albert Pujols is RIDICULOUS!!

Hey!

Welcome to VEB. Ankiel is one of Don Tony’s guys, as I think TLR feels mildly responsible for ruining Ankiel’s pitching career. Ankiel’s level of production this year does not, however, merit re-signing him, in my opinion.

If he can keep up with this last couple of weeks’ production, I’d be fine with re-signing him to an inexpensive contract, but I don’t know if he (as a Boras client) would accept that.

It’s hard for me to separate the emotional side of the story with Ankiel—awesome pitcher who suddenly completely lost it, and then fought back into the majors as a position player—so I’m more forgiving of him than most around here, I think.

The first thing that a pitcher has to understand is that Albert is better than you.-- Jim Palmer

This is a damn shame.

After last night’s crushing loss, the Mets were fully prepared to come to the park today and completely roll over and let us win.

Instead we have Lohse throwing belt high changeups with no movement, Thurston booting routine groundballs, and Ankiel doing God knows what in CF.
