Does the radio feed
sound like they are talking through a cell phone to anyone else? It was like that theast two games as well.
I don't understand the purpose of the line, "I don't need to drink to have fun." Great, no one does. But why start a fire with flint and sticks when they've invented the lighter?
Happy birthday Wagonmaker!
I was amazed to discover that I’m actually OLDER than Adam Wainwright (by seven weeks). Damn, I’m getting old.
Radio feed sounds fine over the net today.

I could have sworn I clicked the KSDK link on MLB.TV...
But it took me to the Washington broadcast. I took that as a sign from above.

Saw this in last night's game recap
at Yahoo: “Despite losses the last two nights, Washington (14-13) can clinch its first winning month since September 2007 with a victory in the series finale Sunday or on Monday in San Diego.”
Pity the poor Nats’ fan. As near as I can tell no other team has to go back nearly that far to have a winning month. Even the Royals and Pirates have had winning months this year, and Baltimore did it late last year.

Does anyone else think we should still be looking for outside relief help?
Or are we resigned to having to move Smoltz to the bullpen?
Does anyone know if we’re looking at all?
FWIW (maybe nothing) Brad Penny just got dumped from the Red Sox too.

I'm talking about getting someone who might be good.
Welly stinks, and Lohse is struggling. Also, I’m not sure if Lohse is a relief kind of guy (i.e. a K guy).

His most redeeming quality is that he can knock the shit out of the ball. The rest of his game leaves a little to be desired. John Daly is a decent comparison without the personal issues.

I'm glad to dump TLR and DD...
before they get old and batty. Maybe that ship has already sailed. 65 is a good age to retire.
Please take this comment in the spirit it was intended.
wtf do could you bring in to take over?
dunc has been absolutely amazing over his career
and say what you will about tlr, but he wins
Very true
Hard to replace guys like TLR and DD, even with their problems and all. I hate to say it, but I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if one or both do not come back in 2010, especially DD.
Carp (or Waino) for NL Cy Young!
+1
Duncan I think we can manage without, but TLR is not really replaceable. I imagine Oquendo would make a good manager, but still.
Besides, TLR’s employment status influences Pujols’ employment status…..
do we know that for sure?
As far as I can tell, TLR lets Albert be Albert. Anyone can do that.

I respectfully disagree with you on two points:
1) Pujols was originally an infielder who was moved to the outfield.
2) The Gold Glove he won should solidify him as a 1B only from here till the end of time. Unless Tony goes crazy and puts him at 2B or SS in an emergency like he has in the past, Pujols should never see anything outside of the infield.
Bob Feller is THE prime example of a cranky old man...working with him a 8:00 AM has to be one of the most dangerous jobs in America.
Let me explain my sarcasm just a little bit more...
Technically Pujols should be a infielder playing the oufield playing the infield. Not just an outfielder playing the infield. I mean it’s just that more impressive to say he’s playing out of position twice right?

I'm fluctuating a little bit...
It is cable, and I’m around 2.6 mbps for the most part, but it drops down in the 1.0-1.5 range some. Is that normal?

Depends on what you're paying for.
I’ve got up to 10 mbps

Well I'm in an apartment complex...
And I’ve had issues with my cable TV as well, and the technician has said that our cable coming into the building is split up way more than it should be. So I’m getting fucked in the ass by Comcast, but that’s another issue. It’s always been around 2.6 or so, but I’m just wondering if it’s normal to spike downward that much for as often as it seems to do it.

Something wrong with my Gameday.
It’s not agreeing with the umpire.

Of course, hope means being cut down on some street corner, as you run like mad, by a random bullet.

I'm glad Willie Harris used up all his hits against the Cards
in this game, which I unfortunately attended

good for adam: another win and a
Reduced era can’t hurt his cy candidacy.
We need to start giving better run support.

pretty amazing
we’ve been playing a lot of bad teams, but we did win the series in L.A.
Last series we actually lost was when we lost two 2 of 3 in Philly the last week of July. Jeez.
not too shabby?
what is the prediction for the last month?
how about the next two weeks?

it will depend on the Brewers.
As GOBs are my witness, it will depend on how the Cards handle the Brewers. Atlanta, Florida, and Colorado will all be dangerous because they’ll be in the hunt.
We meet the Brewers three times.

I have tickets to the
last friday home game of the season vs. the Brewers. I hope were still playing the majority of the regulars then (I still want us to be 10+ up on the division, of course).

our next series
MIL
@ PIT
@ MIL
ATL
FL
CHC
@ HOU
@ COL
@ CIN
MIL
we’re 77-55 now….we have seven series (21 games) against Milwaukee, Chicago, Houston, and Cincy, so we should expect 14 wins from there….we get to play the two NL East teams at home, so that helps. The series in Colorado looks like our toughest.
We could end up taking a run at 100 wins though….seriously. I don’t think we’ll get there, but 95 is certainly realistic.
nice, only 3 series against good teams
ATL, FL and COL
