With the way the Cubs have been on the road
I would be shocked if they got a split, so I say 3-1 Brooklyn Trolley Dodgers. We should at least get a split against the Padres. Pinero and Carp should win, not sure about Lohse, and Smoltz, well, I’m excited he’s a Cardinal.
I think a 7 or 8 game lead coming back from Cali is within reach.

The reason Adam Wainwright holds that one finger up in the air when he throws his curve
is so that right after he releases it, he can point at the batter and tell him “I’m coming for you!”

barring injuries
this central is pretty much locked up. i mean, we’ll probably be 8 if not 9 games up at the end of the pads series.
i suppose the cobs could all of a suddne play up to their potential and make it interesting. but that’s unlikely and i think the full potential of the cards > full potential of the cubs
still, wait on the champagne. it’s not sportsman-like

expensive elite-ish production > just plain expensive production
I think 6 years of Wallace =/= 2.5 months of Holliday
scales tip even farther when adding Shane and Mortenson.
so you think john mo made a dumb move?
I think we win the national league the next 2 years if we manage to keep holliday and derosa
I saw Mort in person in KC a couple weeks ago
Wallace, I can see missing. Mort, not so much. Maybe that’s not fair to judge him on one game, but he got shelled. By the Royals. Just sayin….
Anyway if we can win a pennant none of us are gonna give much of a damn about Wallace. Prospects come and go but hardware is forever….
2.5 months of Holliday while we have Pineiro pitching like an ace,
Carp healthy, Franklin having the year of his life, Boog’s breakout defensive year, Pujols in his prime and healthy > some amount of Wallace at some unpredictable time somewhere in the future for some unknown length.

14.8% – hr/fb ’09
9% – hr/fb career
3.80 – era zips ros
3.44 – fip zips ros
6.19 – k/9 ’09
this is well better than wellemyer/boggs/walters/thompson. i could actually see it working out. i think his era and fip are pretty unfairly inflated. i still don’t want him in the rotation if we only need a fifth starter like 4 more times all year. we need a setup man more than a fifth starter.

oh man
starting Sunday.
Padres & Nationals more or less are AAA teams, so it should be interesting….either one of those lineups lefty-heavy?
adrian gonzalez is in one of the lineups
Of course, hope means being cut down on some street corner, as you run like mad, by a random bullet.
I'd like that shot of Boog getting a pat on the back after his single
Except it’s Dave McKay, and Boog’s bending over.

no comment.
But 6ly, Dave McKay standing real close and whispering in guys’ ears has never gotten less creepy.

while massaging their shoulders, no less.
you know what they say about back rubs…
So, this year if we make the playoffs
are we going with playoff mustaches or beards?

It gets a bit brisk in October
for a mohawk.
I have to start saving for NLCS tickets in the off-chance we make it there. I’ve been to the last 2.

Boog's V for Vendetta look seems appropriate...

But it is undeniable what the staches
have done for this team.
Look at Pineiro. He shaves his off and BAM, loses his mojo. Todd Wellemeyer never grows one. BAM, he sucks balls.

Brad Thompson...

Assume the Cards attain post season, what is the over/under on Thompson being on the roster? Thursty?

Remember Good Pujols and Bad Pujols
Like, Albert would take a few days off and a clean shaven twin brother would step in and replace him for a few days.
Ah, those resplendent days of Aught Six.

For HCL and aynone else who is still awake, I heard Vinny call Albert's steal tonight. Essentially Scully's take was: just another area of greatness.
Hard to argue that one.

Pretty much
I wasn’t even paying attention to him at first and them BAM, ball game over.

That pretty much shows why
Albert will win his 3rd MVP this year. No player is as valuable to a team as Albert is.
We’ve got a long way to go and a short time to get there.
Russell Martin must have been astounded as he grounded the ball into center. Even Albert was surprised. . . . but not stupified.
The bar flies and guys in Seattle were cheering, too. I was driven to drink. . .

Pretty much what Vinny said - at least about AP's value. I don't think anyone expected the 3-0 steal, so no backups. . .
