Colby Rasmus Article
My senior year in college (2008), I took a class in writing for magazine. For one assignment, I decided I wanted to do a profile of Colby Rasmus, who was in Memphis at the time. My school is just about an hour from Memphis, so I called up the Redbirds and scored clubhouse access and a sit-down with Colby, telling them I was a freelance writer.
I never went it off anywhere to be published, so consider this my self-publishing. I've never had anybody besides friends and family read it, and I figured it would be enjoyed here. It's titled "The Future is Now," and I've posted a link.
Hope you enjoy.
(P.S. I wasn't sure if this should be a FanPost or a FanShot, so if I picked the wrong one, just say so and I'll re-post.)

Forgive the formatting errors
Had to change the margins to keep it from being 12 pages long, and it led to a couple hiccups. Still readable and enjoyable though.

ditto, but...
being the teacher that I am I need to point out flaws (if that’s okay.)
page 3, near bottom:
Rasmus had just been drafted into the most successful National League franchise in baseball history, with 10 World Series titles, 21 National League pennants and 26 playoff appearances to its credit.
This could say 8 WS titles, 20 NL pennants, and 24 playoff appearances to its credit depending on how you wanted it to be read. At the time he was drafted, those were the #s because you have to take away the ’05 and ’06 seasons.

Good point
I should have worded it better, but I wanted to stay with the current numbers (10/21/26) simply because “10” makes a bigger impact than “8.” Perhaps…
Rasmus had just been drafted into the most successful National League franchise in history, with, at the time of this writing, 10 World Series titles…
Thanks for reading

Pennants
Also, the Cards have 17 NL pennants. The team also has four pennants it won in the American Association in the 1880s when known as the St. Louis Browns. But when referencing the Cards as the ``most successful National League franchise’’ I don’t feel it’s appropriate to count American Association pennants.
Just a thought from a fellow journalist. Otherwise, nice work

You went to Lambuth??
No freakin way! Small world, huh?
Yeah, it’s a shame what’s going on over there. Also a shame Union and Lambuth aren’t playing each other in any sports this year.
When did you graduate?

Thanks!
and Broadcasting, not Journalism, although I’ve always felt like a print journalist in a broadcaster’s body
