Game 86 Open Thread: Cardinals at Brewers

St. Louis Cardinals at Milwaukee Brewers, Jul 7, 2009 8:05 PM EDT

Wainwright Gallardo
8-5, 3.32 8-5, 2.75

None of you ever knew Mark DeRosa. It was long before your time. But you know what a tradition he is at Busch Stadium... And the last thing he said to me -- "danup," he said - "sometime, when the team is up against it -- and the breaks are beating the boys -- tell them to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Roser... I don't know where I'll be then, dan", he said - "but I'll know about it - and I'll be happy."

Ru-dy, Ru-dy

I mean Ro-sa, Ro-sa. Ya know, Bernie Miklasz has a good point about dealing with injured Cardinal players. When the team says play will be injured for X amount of days, just multiply by 6 and you’ll get a pretty good idea on when they’ll be back.

Therefore, I submit DeRosa’s new nickname is 6x, or Alegebra. Or Algernon.

Oh, and Albert Pujols is riduculous.

that would require the cardinals to prove the indians had prior knowledge of his injury and willfully withheld the details and that is a tough one to prove.

because Albert Pujols is ridiculous, Chris Carpenter has come back, Wainwright/Lohse/Pineiro are having strong years, our bullpen is decent and Ryan Franklin is having a career year, and Albert Pujols is ridiculous. (Did I mention that twice? It bears repeating.)

Just about everything else has gone south. Glaus, out. Ludwick got hurt. DeRosa is now hurt. We’re running the likes of Thurston out there every day. Carp missed five weeks. Lohse got hurt. Ankiel and Duncan can’t hit at all. We’ve debuted something like 14 (?) rookies.

I think the top 4 of Carp, Waino, Lohse, and Pinata might be the best in the bigs this year. Welly/PK are holding us back, but those four guys can pitch. And I’m on the Pineiro bandwagon—I think his numbers are for real this year since his pitching style is so different now.

He doesn’t socialize outside of the baseball game because he’s either preparing or he’s with his family.

Then once the game starts, he can relax… and he starts talking to everyone remotely close to him. The game is moving so slow for Albert, it’s like a potluck picnic.

I find it endearing. And I can’t believe he hasn’t been called out for it in all these years.
