CARDINALS/DOMINICAN BASEBALL DOCUMENTARY
Hey everyone,
I am the producer of a documentary that I think you'll like. The film is about baseball in the Dominican Republic and shows what it is like for players like Pujols, Big Papi and others to make it the pros. I think Cardinals fans will particularly like this film because we spent some time at the Cardinals Dominican Camp and give an inside look at your farm system.
Anyway, the film gives you a different perspective on the game that I think a lot of you will enjoy. You can get see the trailer and get the DVD here: http://www.roadtothebigleagues.com
I'd love to hear your thoughts...

Of course, hope means being cut down on some street corner, as you run like mad, by a random bullet.

Pujols was 12 or something when he immigrated to NYC.
Hope the movie works out, though. Until his untimely death, I was hoping Halberstam or now some other writer would do a book on this sort of thing—I’d like to know what happens to promising 16 year olds at the academies after their arms blow out. It’d be a good story to follow a few players over a coupla years.
Guys like Bradley are exactly why we can't have a pumpkin patch anymore.
yeah, it is an amazing story. We spent a lot of time in the MLB Dominican camps and they said that only a handful of 100 players actually make it. The ones that do have to be so good… I’d argue that because of the VISA situation they have to be even better than the American born players.
BTW: the Cardinals have a great program down there.
"reply" is your friend.

Yeah isn't the main holdup now that teams are waiting on verification of his age?
Decrease runs scored?
Maybe.
Decrease winning? Never seen that proven.

yeah
and the fast that it’s taking so long isn’t encouraging.
really smart move, imo, for the cards to pick out mateo early, stick with their guns and sign him asap. could turn out to be the #1 international prospect this year
