Kou is hard for lefties to hit. Rasmus might be better at hitting lefties than Ankiel. But in that situation I would have my money on Kou.
I still wouldn’t have PH for Rasmus though. I just think the end result would have been the same.
You all assume I think it was the wrong decision
READ MY POSTS PEOPLE. Its not about TLR or the decision, the decision was probably right. Its the too piss poor at bats by Ank and Luds that irk me.
I'm the guy that does his job, you must be the other guy.
Ludwick/Ankiel's over anxious at-bats...
If you havent noticed (9th inning yesterday with 2 outs, 3-2 count), Colby is not anxious and takes good at bats in key situations.
Your assumptions are SoonerFan-esque
I'm the guy that does his job, you must be the other guy.
My only assumption
is Tony decided to use his right handed bat in the spot where he could knock in the go-ahead run. Why save him for an at bat that might never come. You act like Rasmus hits worth a shit against lefties. He doesn’t.

He went with matchups, which is just fine. I’m aiming my argument at how free-swinging Ankiel’s and Lud’s at-bats were.
I'm the guy that does his job, you must be the other guy.
Fair enough, but there's only so much you can do.
Luddy was put in the perfect spot to win the game, and he didn’t come through. Having said that, I’d put him in that spot 10 times out of 10 in place of Raz or Ank against a lefty.
by MichiganBird on Jul 30, 2009 11:51 PM EDT up reply actions

the ONLY possible reason
I can think of is TLR doesn’t trust Welleys command enough to have him pitch with the bases loaded. Afraid he would’ve walked in a run I guess.
Not only is it inexcusable
It’s worse than a blunder — it’s an intentional “I’m-the-Smartest-Man-in-the-Room” move.

Had any balls, there wouldn’t be a concern with him. It’s hard to pitch when you go out to the mound with a purse from the Kip Wells collection on your shoulder.

Tonight reminded me of those extra inning games last year
when LaRussa would bring in Parisi.
Sad times.
Tony said he didn't want to put Welley in a pinch
hence why he didn’t want to pitch to ausmus
pretzels pretzels pretzels pretzels
Not we know why Kemp hit's 7th and 8th
to psyche other managers out. He can’t be good if he hits that far down in the lineup right?
because 2 men in scoring position
in the 10th inning and facing one of the best hitters on the league leading Dodgers isn’t a pinch????
I guess to look on the bright side of this abortion of a game
Kyle Lohse looked better, though not back to his April form.
