Kou is hard for lefties to hit. Rasmus might be better at hitting lefties than Ankiel. But in that situation I would have my money on Kou.

I still wouldn’t have PH for Rasmus though. I just think the end result would have been the same.

by Evilfrog on Jul 30, 2009 11:50 PM EDT up reply actions

You all assume I think it was the wrong decision

READ MY POSTS PEOPLE. Its not about TLR or the decision, the decision was probably right. Its the too piss poor at bats by Ank and Luds that irk me.

by The_teague on Jul 30, 2009 11:52 PM EDT up reply actions

Ludwick/Ankiel's over anxious at-bats...

If you havent noticed (9th inning yesterday with 2 outs, 3-2 count), Colby is not anxious and takes good at bats in key situations.

Your assumptions are SoonerFan-esque

I'm the guy that does his job, you must be the other guy.

by The_teague on Jul 30, 2009 11:45 PM EDT up reply actions

My only assumption

is Tony decided to use his right handed bat in the spot where he could knock in the go-ahead run. Why save him for an at bat that might never come. You act like Rasmus hits worth a shit against lefties. He doesn’t.

by MichiganBird on Jul 30, 2009 11:46 PM EDT up reply actions

I don't disagree with move entirely, it seemed correct

He went with matchups, which is just fine. I’m aiming my argument at how free-swinging Ankiel’s and Lud’s at-bats were.

I'm the guy that does his job, you must be the other guy.

by The_teague on Jul 30, 2009 11:48 PM EDT up reply actions

Fair enough, but there's only so much you can do.

Luddy was put in the perfect spot to win the game, and he didn’t come through. Having said that, I’d put him in that spot 10 times out of 10 in place of Raz or Ank against a lefty.

by MichiganBird on Jul 30, 2009 11:51 PM EDT up reply actions

i just said I wouldn't have done that

But then again, maybe I would have. A fly ball there would have won that game.

We’d used Boggs instead? That seems like such a logical and easy way to improve the club. DFA Welley and call up Boggs.

I will never understand...

how Matt Kemp drives in 3 runs in this game with 2 outs, 1st base open, and Brad Ausmus on deck. That’s inexcusable.

by LukeMP1186 on Jul 30, 2009 11:42 PM EDT reply actions

Ausmus is a gamer

Tony loves gamers.

He clearly would have beaten us because Tony fears him.

by Hardcore Legend on Jul 30, 2009 11:46 PM EDT up reply actions

the ONLY possible reason

I can think of is TLR doesn’t trust Welleys command enough to have him pitch with the bases loaded. Afraid he would’ve walked in a run I guess.

by dcfcblues on Jul 30, 2009 11:48 PM EDT up reply actions

I thought about that...

but he let it happen in the 3rd inning, too…

Not only is it inexcusable

It’s worse than a blunder — it’s an intentional “I’m-the-Smartest-Man-in-the-Room” move.

Only Mozeliak can save us from more blown games from Wellemeyer.

If Wellemeyer

Had any balls, there wouldn’t be a concern with him. It’s hard to pitch when you go out to the mound with a purse from the Kip Wells collection on your shoulder.

Not we know why Kemp hit's 7th and 8th

to psyche other managers out. He can’t be good if he hits that far down in the lineup right?

because 2 men in scoring position

in the 10th inning and facing one of the best hitters on the league leading Dodgers isn’t a pinch????
