how did they check the runner the first time? Did the pitcher throw to 1st? Because you can’t throw to an unoccupied base.

the first time

Mota never was on the rubber. That’s why there wasn’t a call. To appeal, the pitcher has to engage the rubber, come set, step off, and then he becomes an infielder and can throw wherever he wants.

And good pitch there hawk.

you can throw anywhere

as long as you step off. you can’t make a pick-off move to an un-occupied base, but a deliberate step off, turn, throw, is perfectly legal.

For some levity, one of my favorite baseball stories ever.

Marv Throneberry was the 1b for the 1962 Mets…who were crap, of course. Throneberry was the ultimate flake on that team on a team full of them. One game, he pissed one into the gap and got a trouble. Unfortunately, the umpire called him out for missing first base. Turns out you have to do that in this baseball game. Anyway, Stengel comes waddling out of the dugout to argue. After Casey makes his case, the umpire replies.

“Casey, sorry to say it, but he missed 2nd too.”

?? This is the only bomb pop that I know:

I never would slip you Mickey! It is merely rhinoceros horn. This makes the champagna bubble.

I loved those as a kid

those and orange push-ups.

Jeff Weave a Tangled Web

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time... like tears in rain... Time to die.

I bet Al will

go on and on about how cool would it be for Holliday to homer…

Yadi swings and hits a high fly ball... Endy Chavez goes back, to the track, to the wall... ITS A GUNNER!! Yadi gives St. Louis the lead in the top of the ninth!

I want the Walrus back...

Oooh oooh, Dreeeeeam Weaver

Albert Pujols does not have "down" years. He has "~6 WAR" years.

to tell the truth

I wasn’t quite sure till I saw the fielder it sounded good off the bat but when a outfielder pulls up like that and isn’t watching over his shoulder you know it is in the park

"Come test me every day if you want," says Pujols, "Everything I ever made in this game I would give back to the Cardinals if I got caught."
