Vote on the VEB T-Shirt - UPDATE 3
Lots of good ideas where posted on the last thread but now we need to get the ball rolling. I am just going to post all the T-shirt ideas that were posted in the last thread as posts. Just rec the one you think the one is the best. Also, if you like a front but not the back vice versa SAY SO. I like to get this hammered out by Saturday.
Also, We still need a place to get these made. I prefer a place with easy online ordering but open to anything. I might personally just screen print myself one.
So this is my first attempt at making the T-shirt. I think it turned out pretty good. Going to print red on powder blue shirt soon also. Will hopefully have pics for that soon. I have deceided to just sell the Che shirts myself and put Hardcore Legend's black shirt up on CafePress. I will probably sell the shirts for $15+shipping. I can do pretty much what ever color's you want to mix and match with the Che. Black on Red, Red on Blue, Black on Blue,....

P.S I know I missed an exclamation point.
P.S.S Those lines went away they were just temporary from ironing.

I'd love this one on red.
Not sure how the contrast would work out, but it feels wrong not wearing red to a Cards game.
On with the (good) youth movement!

I think it would look shitty on red.
Black, white, or grey are all preferable.

what about a shirt with grey material with a black rectangle on the front,
with the art within the rectangle? i like the black/red contrast, but yeah, an all-black T-shirt is sometimes not what you want.

You could throw this design on the back
With the URL and merge 2 designs.

I thought that this was suggested last time
and that it was nixed because the image was copyrighted.
They say that it's never too late, but you don't get any younger...
do you think it would work with just
“Viva El Birdos” on the back
as opposed to the URL (the www. and the .com)
i agree with some of the others that a URL makes it look cheap
R.P.O.F.Y.M.
I think it needs a www and .com
Most people when they see “Viva El Birdos” do not think of this web page. They don’t know what they are looking at. It might take away from part of the appeal of the shirt but also add’s advertisement. I think the URL is a must

It just makes the shirt look . . . cheap.
Otherwise, it’s an amazing design.

why does it "need" to be on there?
This shirt is pretty unofficial as it is, so it’s not like the point is to market the site. The point is to display our pride as members of the community. You don’t need a url to do that. A URL makes it look like some free giveaway swag you got for signing up.
I mean, honestly, what’s the point? It’s not like it adds anything to the design.
On with the (good) youth movement!
Just seems silly
to make a shirt for a website community and not include the website.

Why not change the STL
To a VEB of some sort? Wouldn’t that make more sense? I would put the website on the sleeve of the shirt and you could do a number of things on the back of it:
- You know Dan, it really is!
- Improving the VORP of Cardinals fans since 20** (whenever the site was created)
- Where’s my Frankilns?
You could also just leave it blank and let people personalize the back with a number and their own name or another name.

The shirts would be red. The letters would be gold on a navy background with white piping. The shortstop is wearing more of trucker hat and the stir-ups. Sort of a Ryan homage. The thought is to draw a first baseman, covering most of the .com portion of the tag wearing boots and a beaten up cowboy hat with a jersey that has “el hombre 5” on the back.

The problem is online T-shirt custom t-shirt shops. I have been rather underwhelmed with the quality of online T-shirt shops. Not a lot of choice of color for T-shirts and I haven’t read good things in terms of quality.

What is the 67 even supposed to stand for?
Future Redbirds - tracking Cardinal prospects for Cardinal Nation
yep--before my time as well
and if I’m not mistaken the catch phrase of that team is the name of this site!

Viva El Birdos is the name of 67’ Cardinals!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ahhhh
I understand now.
You might be surprised how little I know about baseball outside of the last 15 years.

But I knew that from Larry's old post on it
just forgot.

Sad.
What happened?

I did a poor job at applying the emulsion
Tried pouring some on than squeeging it around. It was a mess. When I put it out with the image in the sun it just didn’t come out right.
I just did a smaller second attempt and this seemed to turn out all right. I applied the emulsion by brush and it was a lot smoother and cleaner. I did the actual photo emulsion under an indoor halogen light. This one looks better than the first. I am just letting it dry off now before I try it out.
The smaller one is the url so I am going to just try it on some old T-shirts.
I assumed it would fail the first couple times. It is always difficult to get something right the very first time.

Ah.
I didn’t realize you were doing photo emulsion.

You could make a stencil.
But that would be a pain.

i thought of a stencil at first
But it would of been to much trouble to be worth the sub quality end result

3rd attempt
It went smooth like the second. Currently drying and will burn the image on the canvas later

So this is my idea so far
I think I am going to just make the Che shirts myself. They are simple enough being one color. Should not be that much money around $15 for the shirt. I can either do the shirt on red or baby blue. Really any color should not be to much of a problem.
I will put HL’s shirt on Cafepress.com because it is multiple colors. CP only lets you put one design of a t-shirt up at a time. So this will allow us to have two different designs for T-shirts.
I should have a done version of the Che T-shirt up tonight.

it should be a little of both.

I haven't had cheesecake in a while
but I emphatically prefer a dense cheesecake. And nothing with seedy berries (strawberry namely) as a topping. Cherry. Always Cherry.

Blackberries are good
but they’re pretty darn seedy.

I like dense
cheesecake, too. You don’t want it to be airy. But you don’t want it chewy either.

To avoid messing with that,
I just turn the oven off and let it sit in there for an hour. No cracking!

you can get away with putting a pan of water on the lower grate in your oven.
keeps the humidity up.

Nice work, Flim and kudos for all the time and effort you’ve put into this. I’m looking forward to enhancing my wardrobe with official VEB apparel!

Did a screen print of the Che
Overall not to bad looking. Still had a few holes to patch. Reapplied some emulsion to touch up. Just letting it dry. I want this T-shirt done today before I go off to my hotel at 3.

1967
most have probably already read this, but just for those who havent (or havent googled it):
http://www.vivaelbirdos.com/story/2006/6/20/94414/4461
an excellent post about ancient cardinals time from a VEB poster of yore.
probably way too late for this idea
but for the che shirt, it would be cool to have the “vivaelbirdos” arched across the top of the back with “67” below it. jersey style
Of course, hope means being cut down on some street corner, as you run like mad, by a random bullet.
