why not?

Ryan’s kind of a character off the field, maybe he likes being in front of an audience. Besides, his glove is why he’s on the team at all, his bat isn’t what kept him in the majors over Tyler Greene.

Plus he gets lots of in-game practice with the pitch-to-contact staff….

You think the Cards have problems w/r/t medical issues, diagnosis, treatment, etc.

Look at the Rotowire news on Carlos Beltran:

Tired of waiting for his right knee to get better, Beltran has increased his workouts in an effort to return to the Mets sooner, the NY Post reports. […] Beltran said Monday the bone bruise on his knee has not improved but he has begun hitting, throwing and running in a pool to strengthen the leg and try to get back on the field. An MRI exam two weeks ago showed no improvement in the bone bruise, and doctors advised Beltran to continue resting the leg. Beltran felt rest was not helping and since he has not been feeling the sharp pain that he did a month ago, he is going to try and take the next step in his recovery and run outside the pool. Doctors told him the bruise likely is not going to go away until he can shut it down completely, so it would not be surprisingly if Beltran did not return this year or is very limited if he does.
Sounds like a great idea, Carlos.

HGH wasn't banned in baseball until January 2005

Ankiel got his supply in 2004, with a prescription. Again, validity of the prescription you can question. But what he did was technically not against MLB rules.

Yup

by mojowo11 on Jul 28, 2009 11:09 PM EDT up reply actions

That is true

…but the fact remains that Cards fans (as with all others) have a very obvious blind spot to their own players’s malfeasance.

BTW…anyone taking any of several anabolics was violating the laws of the United States of America, which are probably more important than the rules, or lack thereof, of MLB. If Mac took anabolics he may not have done anything “wrong” by baseball standards but he WAS violating the laws of the US to get better at baseball.

I’m not on a high horse here b/c MLB turned a blind eye to steroids and created a system where it was to a player’s benefit to ‘roid up…I just tire of the “There were no rules in baseball though!” argument w/r/t many PED’s.
