IT's Never Sunny in Philadelphia
That was the last straw.
I will never root for the Phillies again. Under no circumstances will I ever lower myself to want that team to win. Even if the Phillies play the Red Sox in this year's World Series I will root for Boston!
I am sure some will think that I am being unreasonable root for Boston? After the '06 Series it was amazing how many Red Sox jerks I ran into. I decided that with such a horrible personality those fans never deserve another championship, but of course they have been rewarded. Red Sox fan jerkdom has grown.
So actually after much deliberation, and cool headed deep thought. I have decided that Phillie fans are in fact worse than Red Sox fans. I must admit that I have for a long time known this deep down, but laughed it off. Being from Philly I excused it some what. Laughed at it, marveled at it, and even was amused by it. Some will ask how could I blame all Phillie fans for the action of one ass? Easy! This is typical of the things Phillie fans do.
This was not an isolated incident. It was in fact typical. I was at the Vet for the “Battery Game.” I was also there for Rolen's first game with the Cards. Wearing Cardinal gear I was peppered with crap thrown at me during the game and as verbally assaulted in the parking lot after the game. The amazing thing was these horrible rotten people had just watched their team win! They were still miserable ass wipes who had to make themselves feel better by hurling profanity at me and my wife.
I was in fact born and raised in the Philly area. I am one of seven kids, and the only one that is not a Phillie fan. During the incident I called one of my brothers and I was furious. He had not seen the laser assault, but was watching game earlier. When I describe what happened he said, “I think it's funny! I don't know why you are getting so upset. I think you are over reacting.” So he too is a typical Phillie fan. I said, “OK next time Howard steps in to the box at Citi Field maybe a Met fan will laser him you will see how funny it is!” He still thought that I was out of line.
So now I have three teams and their fans that I can't stand: The Philadelphia Ass Wipes, the Boston Red Sax, and Houston Astroles!
As an Eagle fan I knew about Vet and the court in the basement, but I must say I have no stomach for it anymore. I will have a very low tolerance for Eagle fans and the Eagles if anything like this happens this fall. Any thing like this happens at the Link, I will have a bonfire with all my Eagle gear!
No longer will I say I am from Philadelphia. I am from Syracuse!
Ps. I know this not a typical FanPost and if the editors want to remove it I understand, but I needed to vent. I also must say that I am embarrassed by the fans in my now former home town.

If you knew it wasn't a FanPost,
why not just make it a FanShot?

There is a simple fix for Philadelphia fans
If they misbehave, such as yesterday, award a forfeit to the visiting team. And keep doing it. Either the home team in Philadelphia will police their fans’ thuggish behavior, or they will suffer the consequences in the standings.

A fan
Lasered both Lugo and Pujols in the face while in the batters box! After the other other players said that were laser pointed as well!
they did it later in the game too
supposedly skip and I definitely saw them “shoot” Derosa with it

This is obviously the best option. I wish I felt like it had a significant chance of happening.
Who needs affection when you can have blind hatred?
of course
then you’d have cubs fans showing up in phillies drag shining lasers at their own players’ eyes.

If anyone has even visited the Philly area
the trash and garbage along I-95 starts north of the Delaware border and continues with a vengeance. There are some neat things to do in Philly, and a part of me misses living there because of that, but I shan’t miss many of its foul-mouthed denizens, too many of whom do not so much speak the English language as they do chew it up and spit it out.

search on youtube for "Bill Burr Philadelphia"
be forewarned it contains very graphic language, but it basically sums up my feelings about Philadelphia. Its a comedy show in Philly where the whole crowd is booing the comic, but instead of walking off he just rips on Philly for his entire set. btw if you haven’t heard of him, Bill Burr is one of the best stand-ups out in the biz right now
wat about cubs fans...
earlier in the year pujols hit a rocket at oquendo and oquendo was on the ground in pain and most of wrigley stood up and cheered.
thats worse than the lasers or the other jackass comments i think
The urinal trough surfing "fans" at Phil's Corner Tap
have a special category all their own.
Jackass isn’t a strong enough term.

Sunday's game
I’m pretty sure somebody dropped a water bottle in Ludwick’s general direction when he was picking a ball up against the fence…think it was when he was fielding Utley’s hit in the first.
Phillies definitely are pretty high on my teams to dislike. What was with Manuel talking to/arguing with the ump about whether the batter was out or not when we thought Ankiel might be paralyzed on the infamous play earlier this season?
On the flip side, Victorino seems like a cheery guy.
the Flyin' has to be, to play in Philly
I was thinking they could all be strip searched, but then someone would just take a seventh inning break on the field.

I have hated the Phillies since the battery incident. Maybe it’s unfair to hate a team based on their fans’ behavior but I find it hard to want the Phillies to win if it makes their fans happy.

the team itself is likable
manuel seems like a cool dude. utley is one of my favorite non-cardinals. the only reason i dont like howard is because he got the MVP over howard, but there is no one on the roster i really hate.
but yeah, i still hate the phillies.

On with the (good) youth movement!
I've never had a problem
I live in philly and have been to every cardinal-phils game for the past 16 or 17 years. Starting when I was 13, I’m 30 now, and I have never had one of these bad experiences. I wear my cardinals gear, and sure people give me crap, but it’s all been innocent and in fun. I honestly believe that people are over sensitive to what happens in philadelphia because of the reputation of the city and it’s fans. I think it’s sad really, because philly fans are the most passionate and honest fans in sports.
For what my 2-game sample this weekend was worth,
Phillies fans were much better than I anticipated. I caught some shit for sure, but nothing serious and outside of what I would expect for an opposing fan anyway.
Eagles game, OTOH, is probably a completely different story.
"I'll be glad to have Ryan [Braun] help if he wants to. I'll give him a badge and he can be my deputy." - Doug Melvin
seem to have mellowed
…since the WS win. I live in Philly and was there for opening day 06 with my newly obsolete #41 Molina jersey when the cards won and Rolen hit a grand slam. On my way out some douche lowered his shoulder into my face as I was walking by (he was very tall). Other than that though, I got the typical ‘asshole’ chant, but that’s all in good fun.
Was at the game on Friday when the cards won big and didn’t even get an asshole chant. So maybe all the hostility stemmed from the insecurity and doubt of never winning? Then again, three guys beat a man to death outside the stadium on Sunday, so there’s that too.
