Baseball's back.  Pujols still rocks.  Carpenter still pitches like Carpenter.

AND OMG Dan and Al are pimping out Brett Wallace as a third basemen.  [/system malfuction]

I heard an interview with Moz

this afternoon. He basically said they weren’t gonna bring up Walrus unless he had a place to play regularly. They didn’t want to add him to the roster just to have him sitting the bench.

Makes sense to me.

Just read the article at Fangraphs...

Elbow not fixed

Not sure why Erik overlooked that. He had a nerve operation on that elbow, but not the major surgery he’s going to need.

Carp’s location by pitch type for this game:

This is from the catchers point of view. Those sliders/cutters on the outer half are ridiculous. And look how many strikes he’s been throwing.

I mean, it’s a 6-0 game, why not bring in Kinney or one of the other “lesser” relievers and save your go-to guys for the rest of the weekend?

It was like the other night when Tony brought in Kinney with a 4 run lead and yanked him because 2 guys got on with 1 out. If you don’t have the confidence in those guys with huge leads, how can you ever expect them to contribute anything of substance?

by Ferociousaurus on Jul 17, 2009 10:53 PM EDT reply actions

They said that compared to the second half...

our first half schedule was very brutal.

We played the most games in MLB before the All-Star Break. And I’m sure we had a rainout that we didn’t make up too.
