Scary news via Strauss on Twitter
Well, some great news coming through the feed..
--------------------------
JoeStrauss: Albert arrived at clubhouse around noon today. Exhausted from A-S frenzy. Did not come on field. Experiencing "mild stiffness." #stlcards

Ankiel yet to see docs re: right shoulder. Still developing
-------------
If Ankiel has had this nagging issue for weeks, why hasn't something been done? Is this another issue of ownership/management not reporting an injury issue, or has Ankiel just been keeping quiet? Even though he's not that great at hitting when he's healthy, one could argue that this problem should have been obvious, if not to us then to someone from the team. Also, if he's had several days off now, why hasn't this been looked at yet? Isn't the All-Star break the time of year to look at this stuff and start to fix it?
Also, Albert reporting any sort of discomfort is scary by itself. The fact that it has already been mentioned makes me hope this doesn't blossom into something worse. Eek.

I can't imagine Pujols wouldn;t be tired
after the last few days. Glad he has an extra off day.

He also said the following:
DeRosa possibly activated this weekend, more likely next week. Swung w/out wrist pain today. Will take BP outside Friday.
and
K. Greene scheduled for 4-game rehab at Sprintfield, may accompany team to Tulsa on upcoming road trip. Time frame: Uncertain.
and
Team may search for starting pitching if Wellemeyer fails to show greater consistency in next 2-3 starts. No internal options.
and
More coming on TLR-Hungo-Yadi flap.

No internal options?
I swear to God, this organization blows my damn mind sometimes. If Mitchell Boggs isn’t an “option”, I don’t know who is. Not to mention Hawksworth, Mortensen, and Walters. There is a zero percent chance it could turn out worse than what Wellemeyer is giving us.

Pardon my ignorance
been out of touch the last week – who is Hungo (Al?) and what was the flap?

Al criticized Yadi on the air...
for not running out a shallow fly ball in Chicago. Soriano dropped the ball, but Yadi reached first and it didn’t affect anything. Tony defended Yadi, and said something about being disappointed in Al. Al has responded a coupe of times since…

Mild Stiffness?
I think Albert goes through life that way. I’m not concerned.

Now that it looks like Prince Albert is okay
we may focus on the struggles of Young Musial.
Here’s a few numbers to contemplate: Since his three-hit day in Florida June 11, in his last 30 games played, Ankiel has hit .151 with a pretty unbelievable .208 onbase percentage and a .215 slugging percentage. This is beyond terrible, beyond Jose Macias territory. Why is he still in the major leagues? Or at the very least on the disabled list?
They’re in total denial, that’s why. From the P-D:
Manager Tony La Russa said putting Ankiel on the disabled list was not considered because the outfielder is currently viewed as available, even if he’s not starting and in a two-for-30 skid. Ankiel said the weakness was related to his crash into the wall May 4, and that he aggravates it “with some swings, like getting a ball off the end of the bat.”
“He’s cleared to play,” La Russa said. “Regardless of the MRI … It’s not a question of whether he can play. It’s how much he’s affected.”
So basically, this is Scott Rolen all over again, except without Rolen’s ability to get base hits on a regular basis, if not home runs.

How dare you tarnish the Musial name!

Not just me
Apparently, this is Ankiel’s nickname. I am using it ironically, of course.

I have NEVER heard him called that.
That’s awful. And I was just messin’ with you.
