All Star Game Overflow Thread, Part Deux
Pujols finishes 0-3 w/ an error but Yadi has a big 2 out single and Franklin pitched a scoreless inning. Hopefully the NL can pull it out and get the Cards, I mean the NL, the home field in the World Series.

BS
What did they do that was ridiculous? Nothing. MAYBE you can pinch hit Sanchez instead of Howard. MAYBE.
Bottom line is, the AL players are better. They do more to win the games. The NL had TWO baserunners after the 2nd inning. That is horse shit. The blame goes to everybody. Albert didn’t play well. Heck, other than the pitchers and Molina, nobody really did.

If Crawford doesn't rob that homer
Then the no-runners-since-the-second thing goes out the window and we’re still playing.
Just saying.
But he did.....
And Upton took a terrible route on the Granderson triple.
Better playes. Or at least, players that are playing like better players.

It's one game
Not to mention a one-run game. And you’re convinced this is evidence that the AL has better players?
I mean, if the playoffs are a crapshoot, then the ASG is…something more random than a crapshoot.
The AL is the stronger league, no doubt. But I don’t think there’s much of a disparity between the All-Star Teams, which are just rosters of elite guys on both sides.
cmon...
you’re not really arguing the managers manage to win, are you? Obviously the whiff king is not the right choice when all you need is a base hit. McCann, Sanchez, Pence are all on the bench. Manual chose his guy. Then Maddon sticks with Nathan against Howard? What’s Fuentes warming up for?
To me, baseball just doesn’t work when the games are run like this.
I was iffy when there were no pitchers pulled
But then I thought, it’s a tie-game, they might empty out their pitchers.
Then the pinch-hitters started coming in and it was face+palm.

Blame must be spread to a lot of peeps.
Wright, for a bad throw, Upton a bad route, Bell, a bad inning, Lincecum hitting Jeter, Albert’s error………
At least AP partly redeemed himself by taking some runs off the board with his later defense.
Not a very good game defensively by the NL as a whole.

"If I prepare myself, my stuff is good and I'm going to get outs. That is a fact." - Chris Carpenter
Absolutely,
The only thing I was worried about is how Pujols felt about it. I’m sure he was dissaponted, but seemed to be enjoying himself even after he was taken out. And I’m sure he was overjoyed for Yadi and Franklin. And I’m glad he was able to show his D, after that error.
Overall, I’m happy with the game. That + the Whiskey, it’s been a good night.

That was enough to make me happy, given the bitching of the Braves fans about McCann being awesome.

It was Gibson-esque.
Would’ve been more intimidating if the pitchers hadn’t all elevated their pitches, almost to a man.

That’s becoming my sentiment. I don’t feel like the better team won tonight (or for the last 3 yrs for that matter). I know the AL has been superior but I think NL is now right there with them. We (NL) just can’t catch a break.
It was painfully obvious Pujols felt the weight of being host. I hate to watch when he seems seems to be pressing. Other than the error, I thought his defense was exceptional.
