Pujols finishes 0-3 w/ an error but Yadi has a big 2 out single and Franklin pitched a scoreless inning. Hopefully the NL can pull it out and get the Cards, I mean the NL, the home field in the World Series.

because the players, you know, the ones playing the game here that you’re supposed to be calling, are playing the game at a fast pace.

BS

What did they do that was ridiculous? Nothing. MAYBE you can pinch hit Sanchez instead of Howard. MAYBE.

Bottom line is, the AL players are better. They do more to win the games. The NL had TWO baserunners after the 2nd inning. That is horse shit. The blame goes to everybody. Albert didn’t play well. Heck, other than the pitchers and Molina, nobody really did.

by SoonerfanTU on Jul 14, 2009 11:42 PM EDT up reply actions

It's one game

Not to mention a one-run game. And you’re convinced this is evidence that the AL has better players?

I mean, if the playoffs are a crapshoot, then the ASG is…something more random than a crapshoot.

The AL is the stronger league, no doubt. But I don’t think there’s much of a disparity between the All-Star Teams, which are just rosters of elite guys on both sides.

by mojowo11 on Jul 14, 2009 11:45 PM EDT up reply actions

cmon...

you’re not really arguing the managers manage to win, are you? Obviously the whiff king is not the right choice when all you need is a base hit. McCann, Sanchez, Pence are all on the bench. Manual chose his guy. Then Maddon sticks with Nathan against Howard? What’s Fuentes warming up for?

To me, baseball just doesn’t work when the games are run like this.

by guayzimi on Jul 14, 2009 11:45 PM EDT up reply actions

I was iffy when there were no pitchers pulled

But then I thought, it’s a tie-game, they might empty out their pitchers.

Then the pinch-hitters started coming in and it was face+palm.

That’s becoming my sentiment. I don’t feel like the better team won tonight (or for the last 3 yrs for that matter). I know the AL has been superior but I think NL is now right there with them. We (NL) just can’t catch a break.

It was painfully obvious Pujols felt the weight of being host. I hate to watch when he seems seems to be pressing. Other than the error, I thought his defense was exceptional.
