If not, Tony should call time, walk out there, and literally take the bat out of Ankiel’s hands when he has a 3-0 count. I’ll take my chances just seeing if the pitcher can throw three straight strikes

This is a very unusual
situation with Carp. His pitch count says 7 or more. Tony is thinking, lets pray for 6. Could be the humidity playing havoc with his breaking stuff. I don’t want to see him in the 7th with one run.
by OperaCard on Jul 10, 2009 4:40 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
on top of the pitch count he's had:
1 at bat to end an inning and he was also stranded on 1st where he was running with the pitch 5 times before Rasmus eventually ended the inning. Tiresome
THE SKIP IS LEGIT!!

He certainly is used
to humidity. Maybe the cooler temperature is an issue. He is over rotating the curve and is having trouble targeting that much break.

I don't really have a problem with the bunting...
The Cubs have 9 outs left against someone other than Carp, and a 5 run lead at Wrigley does not equal a 5 run lead anywhere else.

BR got way too far off of first. I actually like Hoff’s decision to go for third, he just overslid (even though he looked safe to me). Just because the Cubs fucked up the defense doesn’t mean it was a good decision.
