Does Pujol have enough ABs left in this game
to get the cycle?

he'll get a double, but on the single
an outfielder will bobble it and he’ll take two bases

Albert Pujols doesn't need a mustache for good luck.
But sometimes mustaches wear Albert Pujols.
Albert Pujols does not have "down" years. He has "~6 WAR" years.
I'm pretty glad Thompson isn't starting this game
Cubs might have gone super serious with the way the wind is blowing.
i love 10-run Sundays

Ankiel has looked kind of patient today
still can’t hit anything Harden throws, but patient nonetheless.

Okay at this point
It’s really time to stop playing Ankiel. I’d rather see Thurston in LF, and that’s saying something.
I'd rather see Allen Craig or Brett Wallace

Remember when John Rodriguez was on deck with Eckstein up
and Pujols grabbed his bat and threw it down the steps, telling him he wouldn’t need it?
I wish that when Ankiel went up to bat, Pujols would throw his bat down the steps and tell him it’s pointless.

i’ve always gotten the general impression that he’s highly overrated.

i'd say decent defense
highly overrated otherwise
"He ran hard, but he didn't run fast. He runs like he's mad at the ground." - opposing broadcaster describing Yadi's speed.
He's got an .827 OPS
And plays a strong defensive center field.
2.1 WAR so far this year, tops on the Cubs.
he plays center?
i’ve always seen him in right, but i don’t make a point of watching flubs baseball.
cardinals are the things with feathers that perch within the soul.
thanks!
he played in the all-star game last year as a rf, no?
cardinals are the things with feathers that perch within the soul.
Is it a rule that you have to have a bat in your hands in the batter's box
If not, Tony should call time, walk out there, and literally take the bat out of Ankiel’s hands when he has a 3-0 count. I’ll take my chances just seeing if the pitcher can throw three straight strikes

This is a very unusual
situation with Carp. His pitch count says 7 or more. Tony is thinking, lets pray for 6. Could be the humidity playing havoc with his breaking stuff. I don’t want to see him in the 7th with one run.
on top of the pitch count he's had:
1 at bat to end an inning and he was also stranded on 1st where he was running with the pitch 5 times before Rasmus eventually ended the inning. Tiresome
THE SKIP IS LEGIT!!
He certainly is used
to humidity. Maybe the cooler temperature is an issue. He is over rotating the curve and is having trouble targeting that much break.

So that inning worked out pretty well.
Got a nice cushion, got to see some great defense, and now Carp’s spot comes up 1st next inning.
So he gets another inning, then we PH (Dunc?) for him and get him outta there with a nice lead.
I wish I could give the an honorary Thursty to the entire cubs team

Has anyone read the SI article by Bill James and Joe Posnanski on Albert.
Its a great read and shows just how good pujols is…they basically annoint him as the most perfect player ever

the other thing is that Albert started out fat instead of phat
When you start from a larger body frame, you’re going to get a larger body when you add in muscle and the kind of weight training Albert does. It’s not like he came in pencil-thin.
Albert’s got the kind of body that’ll develop quite a gut whenever he stops playing.
