Game 88 Provisional Open Thread: Cardinals at Cubs

St. Louis Cardinals at Chicago Cubs, Jul 10, 2009 2:20 PM EDT

Carpenter Harden
6-3, 2.32 5-5, 5.35

I'm out of town right now, so I can't see the broadcast to know when the game is going to actually start, but here's the thread. It's amazing to see Harden actually struggle—his stats as a china doll, from 2005 to 2008, are 25-9 with a 2.56 ERA. He must have asked someone in the ironic-wish-fulfillment department at the Twilight Zone for his health.

Cards at Wrigley

In the TLR era, the Cards are 41-61 in Chicago vs. the Cubs. I’d give that cause for concern.

1-2 this year
2-4 in 2008
3-4 in 2007
2-8 in 2006
3-5 in 2005
5-4 in 2004 – that was the last winning season in Chicago.

That being said, I’m predicting a 3-1 weekend going into the ASB this year.

Very Off Topic

and this might be a total stretch, but I’ll ask anyway.

Is anyone really, really familiar with MS Word, specifically the Header/Page Number stuff? I have to ETD my dissertation and they’ve got some formatting requirements regarding the page numbers such that some stuff is to be in lower case Roman (i.e., i, ii, iii) and other stuff is to be in Arabic (1, 2, 3).

Anyway, everytime I think I’ve got it set up to be correct, it changes the entire document. I need to figure out how to keep the sections separate so the Headers aren’t linked. I’ve googled tutorials and junk, but can’t seem to get anything to work.

Any suggestions?

No...not that I know of.

Under Insert, I don’t have the option to add a Section Break (only Cover Page, Blank Page, and Page Break).

I have newer Word, so most of the tutorials/tips I’ve seen don’t talk about it with the layout I have.

And shit, we might have to think about not pitching to D-Lee the way he’s been swinging it lately.

G.O.B. wanted me to get some work done today...

Every time I stop concentrating on the sticktv feed and do some work something good happens.

Albert Pujols does not have "down" years. He has "~6 WAR" years.

No

Throw it at his bat. He swings in the same spot every time. Just throw it at his bat so he can hit a homer.

They've learned to pop it up a bit more

and get it into the wind.

And in response to Dan, yes Luddy should have been tagging because if that hits the wall, he scores anyway.

More Albert Ridiculousness

because I haven’t posted any in a few days now:

Albert’s season highs for 2009 in any given game:
4 runs (once)
4 hits (twice)
2 homers (7 times)
7 RBI (once – also 6 once)
3 BB (3 times)
2 IBB (6 times)

NICE!
