Game 53 Overflow
<Fingers crossed>
[azru update:] Lohse lifted for Boyer due to continuing forearm tightness. This sounds like it was an ongoing problem the cardinals were hoping to avoid. . . and didn't. Surprise, Surprise.
PS -- Boyer needs to step it up. Even before Looper and Wellemeyer were transformed into starters, they were transformed into non-crappy relievers. Go, Go magic pixie dust.

Unless Paletta examines him. Then he’ll prescribe two weeks of rest, no DL, and THEN Lohse will shred his elbow.

I'm convinced

He's got good stuff but I'm not sure I think it's that much better than say Mitchell Boggs
who is already stretched out and under team control for more years. I’d rather the Cardinals not spend the entire year piddling around with a guy if it costs us games (not saying that it has yet but that it could). I’d rather have seen them DL Lohse and call up a starter from AAA.

Pretty much how all of her classes went.
I didn’t turn in a paper and went to ~25% of classes and got an A. My friend turned in everything, attended ~90% classes, got a B. I think the secret with her was sometimes to have her not know who you were, and that way you somehow squeaked away with her assuming you did..well..I actually can’t explain it.
Nope
I was in the linguistics track, so only really had to take two lit courses, and one of them was Mythology. The other was a literature in film class.
Mary Shapiro was my advisor. Some really good profs there, though. Werner Sublette in Econ and John Neitzke in CS taught me some of the most important shit I ever learned.

Took a couple of grad level classes as an undergrad. One was French Lit in translation where we’d meet at the Dukum at one of the two class times per week.
Another was a Joyce class where we went out as a class and got hammered on Joyce’s birthday.
Good times.

At least it only cost me $3. In any case I haven’t been able to catch many Cards games, so:
-How has Ludwick looked since coming back from the DL
-Likewise with Ankiel
-Are the Cubs actually just a .500 team or worse (fingers crossed)
-How did the LeBronaliers lose???
Not afraid to nitpick

1) Timing wrong on Ludwick..swinging at more balls than he normally does, but not a huge amount
2) Ankiel timing wrong, swinging at more balls than he normally does, not making hard contact on anything pretty much. 1-19? or so with 8? K’s?
3) F the Cubs, no matter their record
Thats a good story
- Ludwick has no hits…if he does have one…its one
- Ankiel has two hits…
- The Cubs will not play this bad all year, but I dont expect them to contend like they did last year
- Because it was 1 on 5

Originated by one of the founders of Affliction clothing, the line has the street cred and edge that will bring it to the forefront of fashion. New in concept but backed by the brains that built one of the most influential and successful brands in men’s fashion, Remetee emerges with fanfare from the streets of Los Angeles. Another key player behind the line is Major League Baseball Left Fielder Ryan Braun. Los Angeles born Braun, plays for the Milwaukee Brewers and won all five Rookie of the Year Awards in 2007.

Bright colors and embellished accents speak of a history of kings and caballeros, warriors and priestesses, edifying legends extolled with dramatic symbolism. Mang Says...
"There is no "I" in team, or in B g Mac Land, either."
“We definitely want to become a full high end fashion line in the future,” Braun says, expecting one day to include dress shirts, blazers and jackets, “I want REMETEE to be a respected line.”

So, the first game the Reds good starting pitcher gets injured, doesn’t make it to the 2nd, and is replaced by Mike Lincoln who proceeds to pitch like Greg Maddux.

Ludwick
I think is doing alright..I give it 2-3 games again before he looks like he’s approaching normal. Ankiel has had 2 hits, Ludwick has hit a fair amount of hard balls that have just happened to not drop. A few feet any way on a few hit balls and I don’t think we’d have nearly as much to complain about
really?
leadoff double and we can’t score? wtf
St. Louis Cardinals... defying win expectancy since 2008
I'm tempted to get cranky and complain about stranding a leadoff double
but Ludwick hit the ball pretty hard, Nix is just killing us today.
Ankiel and Molina definitely could have done better….
i wonder if Ank has any trade value left. maybe we could get a couple dozen eggs and some roller skates for Duncan and Ankiel
.
Roller skates on Ankiel and that collision would’ve had him paralyzed. Anyone think he might still be playing hurt? With the minimal contact on virtually every swing, I feel like maybe the motions of an at bat are causing him to pull up or swing at 50% or something. Not that I’m a doctor or anything..
Wasn’t thinking this a few days ago but since it’s been the same thing for days and days and hasn’t showed any improvement.

Downtown is going to pot early this summer
I’m hoping the All Star game coming to town turns St Louis into season three of the wire with Slay trying to keep crime numbers down and Hampsterdam opening up.
hecanthithecanthithecanthithecanthit
Am I the only one who finds it odd
how little activity is going on downtown despite the Allstar game being in STL? This place is going to be the same ragtag set of bars it always is prior to an additional 25,000 people (plus a shiny new softball field).
Future Redbirds - tracking Cardinal prospects for Cardinal Nation
I still
really like the section of local, real, organic, crappy bars just southeast of the stadium — BBs, Broadway, etc. And the ones southwest of the stadium, while douchey, are at least local. If they could surround the north side of Busch with those types of places, I think Busch would already have that “neighborhoodish” feel they are going to spend millions to generically obtain someday. And it would actually be neighborhood places.
hecanthithecanthithecanthithecanthit
Oh, I could tell you a thing or two about that...
I could, but I won’t. Let’s just say MLB has been less than hospitable toward any unaffiliated ‘free trade’ during the All-Star week.
I once shot a man just to see him die...then I got distracted and missed it.
Sad, isn't it?
you know, I’ve spent many nights downtown, unprotected and unaccompanied, and never feel worried for my safety…but then you see folks you know have this happen. Along with the other obvious emotions, it just makes me angry that there are things happening that make a person question that sense of security. I got to sit in on a Landing meeting recently, and it’s admirable the extra effort those businesses take to protect their employees and customers.

I don't know
A Molina pickoff in that Game 1 vs the Cubs a week or two ago turned us around and we swept them. Who knows if average or good defense at 3rd would’ve had this game at 1-1 or 2-1 or 3-1 and not let this one get away in pretty much every way it could (offense, defense, pitching, baserunning)
He had a bad game today
But on the whole his defense has been passable, and his offense has more than made up for it.
