It WAS true!
Please, Tony. Keep sending Colby the message that he’s not good enough. Better yet, send it through a player who has been worse than Colby has been over the last several games. That will knock him down a notch or five.

The box score
which I do believe is the official record of what happened in the game says clearly that Duncan pinch hit for Rasmus. That would mean Tony made a mistake on the line up card then. Either way, I don’t like it, and I don’t see it as a good baseball move. I just don’t.

think everyone agrees, there
either TLR made a stupid managerial decision, and then messed up the lineup card, or TLR just made a stupid managerial decision. Dunno why he thinks the former is an excuse.

i bet a million internet dollars Craig & Jay can do a better job than Dick & Dunk right now
but, if you all had read everything i wrote, i really, honestly do not have all the answers. i’m not MO, i don’t have any inside knowledge on what he’s thinking or trying to do or not do. i just know the Cards can no longer afford to run those two out there & expect anything different than what they have been getting. flashes of brilliance followed by weeks & weeks of massive suckatude. toss in tony still giving playing time to thursty despite his gawd awful play, KBot trying to find his stroke, Boog & T.Greene providing almost no power, Colby being rook & having his ups & downs, Luddy looking like he’s lost his magic from 07&08, and we are all having a very, very frustrating season.

actually, Luddy looks exactly like he did
during his first month up in 2007, and that big slump about halfway through the year last year. He’ll be fine. Probably not “.950 OPS fine”, but he’ll start hitting line drives again soon.
Ankiel is less likely to be fine, and Duncan is almost certainly toast, at this point.

it’s really easy to come to that conclusion too quickly, but we’ve given Duncan 2 years to get better and he hasn’t done it.
The thing is, he has a option, so Mo needs to use it and let him play every day to try to prove he still has value.

i wish i could remember back that far
but i can’t. 07 is a blur for me. i just remember Luddy not playing a lot early, but when he did, he always seamed to produced big hits & RBI’s. he hasn’t looked right since the spring, and i still think it goes back to what he said then. he worked out too much over the winter & gained too much muscle mass & it’s f’ed with his swing.
you could tell all day he was late on the fast ball, and he’s been late on the fastball all season. his timing is all wrong. if that’s due to the bigger muscles or something else, i don’t think we’ll know anytime soon.
i agree on Dick, but not so much on Dunk. dude needs time to fully recover from his surgery. i have more faith in his power returning than i do in Dick ever being anything but maddeningly inconsistent.
