Game 72 Overflow

Just finished some really awesome sushi.  Robots are big sushi eaters if you didn't know.

Between Joel Pineiro and Ryan Franklin this season, I feel like Albert when he whiffed at my fastball Livian's fastball.

All you can do is chuckle and enjoy it.  Groundballs for EVERYONE!!!*

I've been out of town the last few days but

how does the team have ‘no need for Glaus if he can’t play 3rd’?

I can think of atleast 3 games over the last 2 weeks that we needed a power bat option off the bench.

by Hardcore Legend on Jun 23, 2009 9:34 PM EDT reply actions

I would say

because why would you pay a PH that much when you could deal him to a team that needs a 1B/DH for a halfway decent prospect?

Albert Pujols is ridiculous.

by stlhulsey on Jun 23, 2009 9:36 PM EDT up reply actions

you can do that?

I didn’t know there was a market for rentals that may or may not be healthy enough to play.

by TheBirds on Jun 23, 2009 9:37 PM EDT up reply actions

If he can hit

he can replace Ankiel anytime after the 3rd inning.

One less Ankiel at-bat a game is ok by me.

by Hardcore Legend on Jun 23, 2009 9:38 PM EDT up reply actions

they're saying he is ok swinging the bat

but can’t throw from 3rd to 1st right now. That’s why there’s talk of him becoming a 1B/DH option.

Albert Pujols is ridiculous.

by stlhulsey on Jun 23, 2009 9:38 PM EDT up reply actions

If we've learned anything over the last 4 years

no one is going to give us anything of real value for anything we have. The best we could hope for was one injured 3B for another injured 3B.

pinch hit

Why can’t he pinch hit late in games? It’s not like we don’t have enough hybrid OF/MIF’ers on the team to fill in afterwards.

In blow outs, he can play 1B for Albert.

by Hardcore Legend on Jun 23, 2009 9:39 PM EDT up reply actions

true

if he’ll do it, it takes a special guy to a have the mentality to PH, and B take that as his role on the team

Piniero reminds me of a sinkerball version of Wakefield.

If he can go 15-15 with a 4 ERA then I would be very happy with him as a number 4 starter.

"Rasmus doesn't hit lefties. Instead he bashes them over the head with their own bleeding arm he just raced to the mound to rip off before the ball arrives to the plate. He then smashes that baseball with the pitchers bloody arm over the wall because he does not hit lefites he bashes them." Ted Lilly

Albert

Maybe the reason he takes the throw on the dugout side is to avoid getting spiked as the runner crosses the bag. Hasn’t he had a couple incidents like that. Perhaps he prefers the risk.

Marines are just frat boys...

with lower GPAs and SAT scores. So you repeated yourself…

That's true...

I’ve got several Marines in my family, so I love them. I also love to make fun of them. It’s give and take…

I sort of wish Carp was going tomorrow...

that way you feel like you win one of these next two for sure. With him paired with Santana, It’s more like two toss-up games. So go WonderBrad…

santana's last few outings

have been weak

his last outing he gave up nine runs in four innings or something

Last time I checked...

he throws with his left arm. Unfortunately, that’s all that maters…

Touche

I sadly still like our chances better against Lee or Santana than, say, Jorge de la Rosa

and then you find out who won in a game thread

How come every time we succeed the east coast media tries to smack us down?

This guy rants on Tony. As far as I am concerned the only people that have that right are Cards fans.

How is Tony responsible for players choices? Maybe he should have fungoed their heads in that is why he is scum huh?

"Rasmus doesn't hit lefties. Instead he bashes them over the head with their own bleeding arm he just raced to the mound to rip off before the ball arrives to the plate. He then smashes that baseball with the pitchers bloody arm over the wall because he does not hit lefites he bashes them." Ted Lilly

Decrease runs scored?
Maybe.

Decrease winning? Never seen that proven.

wow. well,

i certainly wouldn’t mind not ever hearing that guy talk about anything again. he has a voice made for a vacuum. y’know, where sound doesn’t carry?

some of his points are interesting, but his method of delivery could use some work.

This will become a forgettable performance

when Pineiro is giving up 12 hits in his next appearance. I’ll be saying to myself “Why the JF$#($#3 is this guy still in the rotation? When was the last time he even one a game!”

Because, that’s who Joel Pineiro is. He’s a guy that occasionally has a game like this to ‘balance’ things out just enough for you to say “How does Pineiro have a 2.91 FIP?”

And God Bless Him for it.

He did indeed.

I’ve also noticed that several of their announcers pronounce Pujols as pool-hose.
