what unit of measurement is
dBZ? is it measuring rainfall amount?

cloud tops i believe

But that's not the purpose of a cloud.
For a cloud, rainfall is victory.

I wonder if his throwing arm is the same arm he douches with.
"Rasmus doesn't hit lefties. Instead he bashes them over the head with their own bleeding arm he just raced to the mound to rip off before the ball arrives to the plate. He then smashes that baseball with the pitchers bloody arm over the wall because he does not hit lefites he bashes them." Ted Lilly
Admit it.
You would LOVE to have Ryan Braun on this team. He’s young. He’s very good at what he does-and figures to be for years to come.
She isn't crazy, she's just not impressed.
just like i would love to have Aramis Ramirez or Carlos Marmol
It doesn’t mean I have to like them until they are on my team, right?

you gotta give Bannister props...
… for being one of the few major-leaguers who pays attention to sabermetrics. he studies as hard as any pitcher in the game. if it weren’t for that, he probably wouldn’t’ve made it this far.
for those interested, an interview with Bannister where he explains what stats he looks at, and how he hopes to keep his BABIP below the average:
these are the kind of players
that need to become coaches or managers after their career. People, even if they are not math-inclined, but are aware of the advanced statistics are the ones who can advance the game. It seems like many managers are clinging to tradition (batting order, player profile, etc) and if players today understand why certain traditional tenets of baseball are wrong, when they become coaches and managers and correct them, hopefully using more efficient methods.

Anyway, I went to the Cardinals game last Thursday when Rasmus was called out at the plate. I only know a few people I could call or text (don’t want to call in the stadium, don’t want to annoy other people talking or try desperately to hear what they’re saying) to find out if he was safe or not, and I wished I was able to log onto VEB real fast to hear the results. Carpenter hasn’t gone more than 100 pitches at all this year. Rather have a healthy Carpenter than a win here.

1. He enters the game with a lead of no more than three runs and pitches for at least one inning
2. He enters the game, regardless of the count, with the potential tying run either on base, at bat or on deck
3. He pitches for at least three innings
so both right

this girl is killing me though
so far, she’s “the one” and i hate using that saying, but it best describes how i feel . she was unavailable for so long, then suddenly available, then unavailable, then available, now unavailable again. it’s a roller coaster i’m ready got get off that’s for sure.
i haven’t met this current dude, but when she told me how much he worked out, and how long he had been divorced. i too thought he seamed something or another to me as well. not that there’s anything wrong with that mind you. but he didn’t seam her type.
i also haven’t spoken to her except for the stray email or text from her for over two months. so God only knows what she’s really doing with herself now.
It kind of sounds like he’s [Duncan] just running around like a puppy out there – full speed ahead in random directions. – BTown Birds Fan
That's a real shame.
And if I can be so presumptuous, given that I barely know you (and by barely I mean not at all), but if she does become available again, you need to take the direct approach. From the sound of it, you want something to happen, but haven’t really gone after her, for fear that if if doesn’t happen, then you’ve missed your one and only chance. The problem with all of that is this: you’re not happy being around but not being with her, and it’s entirely possibly she has no idea how you really feel.
Angie, the girl I was engaged to before she was killed, and I had this completely fucked up, on again off again relationship beginning in 2004. We were together until early in 2005, when she told me she simply couldn’t deal with being the only one really in the relationship. After that, she moved to Chicago to take a job, and we only saw each other intermittently. Every time she was in town, we would get together, have dinner, see a movie, go record shopping, get a little drunk, and then spend all night alternately making love and arguing over whose fault it was we weren’t together.
Finally, in 2007, she called me up one day to tell me she was in town. We went out, and she turned to me at one point in the evening and said she was tired of this, we were going to be together. Didn’t really give me a choice in the matter, which was probably really smart on her end. We were together from then until she was killed in April of last year. I asked her to marry me on a Tuesday night, and she died the next Sunday.
I tell you all of this not to elicit sympathy, but to make this point: once she was gone, all I could think of was the time I had wasted not being with her because I was just to fucking stupid to see what I actually should have been doing all along. All that wasted time was what tore me up, and continues to do so. The point is this: at least take the shot at what you want in life; at least then you can’t regret that you never gave it a try. If it happens, great. Savour every moment you get. If not, fine. At least then you can move on knowing you went for it.
The time you waste is always the worst.
Then again, maybe I’m just getting all maudling on you and talking out of my ass. After all, before I started on this scotch, a friend of mine had a get together and I drank quite a bit there, so I am blackly drunk at the moment.
You can't teach a hammer to love nails.

the thing is red, i did just that
and i’ve found that you’re never more honest than when you’ve had a few just like i have. so no worries.
once her marriage ended & the divorce was finalized & she had her two or three rebound relationships. i put it all on the line. i told her how i felt & how i’ve always felt. ever since then, she’s slowly started pulling away. we were really tight friends till i told her how i felt. and now i don’t even know what’s going on with her. i sit around looking for work & wondering what she’s doing. knowing full well that Janette’s probably spending all her free time screwing the old due. and that breaks my heart because ever since i met her in 1992, i’ve felt we could be soul mates. not that we were, but that we could be.
but because i had to take 6 years of my mid 20’s & early 30’s caring for my dad who died from ALS, i’m not even close to being on the same playing field as other guys my age & even younger. at 31 i have to start all over. and that’s just not something she’s willing to do. she pushed her X into a six figure income, and at 30 she doesn’t think she should do that again because if she does, the new guy will leave her like her X did. but she can’t see i’m not her X. all she see’s is a 31yr old dude living with his mom trying to start over. she’s got not only herself, but her two kids to think about. and banking on a dude who’s having a hard time starting over just isn’t something she can do. and what crazy is, i totally understand that. either way, i’m SOL.
i can’t imagine going through what you have man. i just can’t. i’ve never gotten past the friendship level with Janette, and if it did by some chance go further, and something happened to her, i don’t think, no i know i could not go on. not after everything i’ve already been put through. your an incredibly strong man to keep on going & living. and i hope you are living. dads been gone for almost a year & a half, and i don’t think i’ve lived one day up here in ohio since. i know my family hasn’t. so i know what you mean, and i get it, i really really do. don’t burn the day. because it’s a day you’ll never get back.
It kind of sounds like he’s [Duncan] just running around like a puppy out there – full speed ahead in random directions. – BTown Birds Fan
Damn.
I’m really sorry to hear that, man. And like you said, you have to understand her position, with kids to look out for and everything else, but I will say this: if she’s known you for better than fifteen years, and still somehow doesn’t think you’re worth hitching her apple cart to, then maybe she’s just looking for all the wrong things anyway, and there’s really nothing you can do about it. If that’s the case, it’s probably best you just move on and worry about your own life. Sometimes people just aren’t what we want them to be, as awful as it is to say.
And as for myself, you’re very kind to say those things, but I don’t think it really has anything to do with strength. I just happen to be one of those people who doesn’t really know what to do with himself other than get up in the morning. I’m not the sort to kill myself, though the teenage me sneers at my lack of testicular fortitude. And living? Feh. I’ve got a big empty house (actually, it isn’t a big house, but it certainly seems large when there’s only one person and two cats living there), just begging for someone to fill it, and absolutely no interest in going out and doing so. This last year has been the single least rewarding of my life, and it should have been wonderful.
Like I said, I’m really sorry to hear all that, about you relationship collapsing and everything else, but maybe that should tell you something. Maybe she really isn’t the one; if she were, would she really push away someone who cares so much about her, and that she apparently cares about as well?
No easy answers, I suppose.

Just so you know, Red...
…excellent line. “The time you waste is always the worst.” So true.
