Game 52 Overflow
Rain, Rain, go away. Come again on a Todd Wellemeyer start day.
If someone could tell the Cardinal batters to use bats instead of their purses to try and hit the ball, it would be much appreciated.

well he's not really that good there defensively
hence my thought about about playing him at 2b and getting an actual 3bmen. or as others have suggested let Thursty excel in the supersub role
some of it comes from
Thurston starting a LOT more than Barden.
There’s an argument to be made—I don’t know how much I believe it now, although I would have agreed to it readily for most of the rest of the season so far—that if Barden had gotten this much playing time that he’d be OPSing as well or better than Thurston is now.
That’s where some of the Thurston criticism is coming from, I think….
and Barden seems to have a better glove
I like Thursty, i just think he does not need to be our starting 3B
* sarcasm might be involved in this comment
Thurston is OPSing .805
He has essentially replaced Troy Glaus so far. It’s very unlikely that Barden would do any better. The problem is, Thurston is historically not a very good player and doesn’t project to do very well in the future. Most people feel that his season so far is a fluke, and we would be better served to get a “real” third basemen.

I assume you mean “high 700ish OPS with a career high .372 OBP, in vegas”.
OTOH, he’s a nice platoon guy for barden next year at 2b.
- "I went at it and didn’t slow down, so it kind of bounced off me." -Lil' Dunc
(OTOH, I love what he's done, and his plate approach has been great)
and he’s actually been unlucky. It’s just hard to understand how it is happening.
- "I went at it and didn’t slow down, so it kind of bounced off me." -Lil' Dunc

you know what I love?
Being confident that Carpenter is just gonna walk out there and baffle all sorts of motherfuckers. Whether he actually has a good day or not, he’s like Pujols—you just expect that he’s gonna go out there and be one of THE BEST day in day out, no matter what.
It’s easy to take for granted, but sure is hell is fun to watch.

One day I’m going to confuse PK with YP here. Maybe they need food nicknames.

TLR complimented him
when he was a rook, and couldn’t use his name. He was just good young pitcher.

Were you here (on VEB) last season?
If not, here’s the low-down: After a game last year, Tony was talking to the press about Perez and didn’t even use his name. He just called him “Young pitcher” and so it kinda stuck.
i'm due
I was late by a whole post tonight.

we also crawled back on top
in the league, for fewest runs given up…thanks to the Giants relinquishing 10 to the Nats earlier
If the Giants let the Nats score 10 on them, they didn't deserve the runs allowed lead

Not really surprising
because they can hit. It’s their pitching that really stinks. But the Giants have good pitching and still allowed the Nats to score 10 on them? Phew!
how the hell did that happen?
lincecum started that game. did he get hurt?

Timmy was okay,
he gave up 4 runs on 8 hits in 6.1 innings. Only two of the runs were earned, one was a home run to Bard in the second. Lincecum struck out seven and walked two. His first inning strike out of Cristian Guzman was number 500 for his career. He’s struck out 506 batters in 445 career innings. And Timmy is only 24, he will turn 25 on June 15.
Unfortunately (for Lincecum), Howry and Valdez decided to give up three runs apiece for a six run eighth for the Nats and Washington won.
No, just got double switched out early
(I hope, there was no mention of it on post-game or at all in general, so I doubt it)
Brought to you by Karl's Jr.
No, no
he must be hurt. Or traded.
Because taking out the teams 2nd best hitter (or cleanup hitter) in the 5th inning for a double switch is too fucking stupid of a thing to do for a manager that wins a lot of baseball games.

he's either hurt, or spent monday night at the pound kicking puppies
if anyone should have been double switched, it should have been Ank. but i guarantee you just because he hit a doubt in the 8th he’ll hit clean up tomorrow night.
Lud’s not right either, but he’s more right than Ank is.

If ankiel was switche
The pitcher spot would have lead off the inning. Ludwick was the 9th guy due up. If ludwick would have got a hit, and ankiel made the last out. Then Ankiel would have been switched.
the conspiracy theorist in me does not think so
i don’t think for a second TLR would have double switched Rick. i really don’t.
and let me rephrase the Lud part. he is fine, he’s just rusty.

Remember you can't question "he who shall not be named"
When the Cards win. We won, therefore it was the right decision.
In other news,
Little Timmy Lincecum recorded his 500th K tonight. All I can say is…WOW!
woooooo!

Pujols vs. 15 higher draftees
El Hombre leads all those 15 other guys (mostly Coco Crisp) in pretty much every category.
…but now he’s gonna be pissed off, because they showed the Cards’ initial scouting report. Cross fingers for a hot hitting streak.

Woohoo! The Even-More-Secret-Weapon strikes again!!
The Birds are now 7-1 when I’ve been at Busch over the past two seasons. Not only that, but I personally held off the rain! Why am I not on your payroll, Birdos?!?
Looking at the box score, I’m not at all surprised by only 1 K by our staff (I was hoping for some K’s by Motte, and from where I was sitting he should have had at least one, maybe two; but the angle from my seat is terrible for that sort of thing, and it could be argued that I’m biased). But I’m surprised to see that we K’ed nine times!! God knows there were a few ugly at bats, but I wasn’t counting and I would not have guessed nine K’s.
I have to say I’m also surprised that Thompson’s pitch count wasn’t higher after five innings. The 4th inning alone seemed interminable….
Going against a tough pitcher tomorrow…I wish I had a ticket to the game…are you reading, Birdos front office…? The Even-More-Secret-Weapon is calling!

Computer guyz - for the past several days when I've logged on to VEB I've jammed up the system and cannot post or access MLB URLs. Any ideas?
Life is frustrating enough without having to miss gameday and audio . . and everything else. In Bangkok I am driven to drink when this happens.

so what is happening?
So you can access MLB.com perfectly fine until you log into VEB? Then once logged into VEB you can no longer access MLB? What if you close VEB first? Are any other sites affected? What browser (Internet Explorer, Firfox, Safari, Opera, etc.) are you using?
