Drooling...

Tha fastball just gives me the shivers…explosive with a good amount of glove side run.
He has a potentially nasty curve-ball, different than the super tight almost slider-like pitches things that we see today.

Fankly his 4-seamer/curve combination will never see the light of Bush as long as Duncan is around as this is as far away from a pitch-to-contact arsenal as you are going to see. He is going to produce a lot of flyballs with his stuff. In this sense, with this pick I think Luhnow raised a middle finger of determination towards Duncan for that “very little down there” crap that he has been spewing. It like he was saying “try to make this guy pitch to contact @sshole”.

Sorry for the angry nature on this one…for all of Duncan’s brilliance—he strikes me as a really smug bastard.

holy crap.
I do think Miller has more velocity left in the tank. I could see him increasing his stride length just slightly in order to get even more oomph on his fastball.

that is stunning.

also, that curve looked like it was about to break the fingers of that poor batter trying to hit it.

BJM, i think that’s a little harsh. duncan has let most strikeout pitchers throw strikeouts, rather than pitch to contact. both perez and motte are throwing hard fastballs. welley, waino, and carp all have their strikeout-generating repetoire, although they have some pitch-to-contact skills.

really, you’re talking about reyes. i think it’s fair to criticize dave for the treatment of reyes, but i also think you can’t generalize that one case to every single pitcher.

the truth can't hurt you, it's just like the dark/ it scares you witless, but in time you see things clear and stark -- macmanus

Nice

The curve looked pretty nasty. I can’t say anything that cant be said already about his heater. My main concern with his mechanics is that he looks like he is landing a bit early. And he could stretch out more. They said the last pitch shown was during warmups though. I would like to see the same angle during an at bat.
