Opening Day
This might not be a typical fanpost, but I have to let folks know that June 20th is opening day at Falcon Park In Auburn, NY. Why shoud anyone care? Well, they are hosting the Batavia Muckdogs. I live about 10 miles from the park. I looked at the Muckdogs roster at the MiLB site and it is not close to being set.
So does anyone have an idea when they will have the roster set or who might be on it? The next question is who should I look out for? Lastly is anyone interested enough for me to write a follow up post on what I saw. I usually keep score when at the game, and would be willing to keep notes and pass them on to VEB. If anyone cares let me know.
Rain is in the forecast unfortunately. At least it is not snow!

Brian Walton
posted this roster on The Cardinal Nation earlier this week. It says tentative on it, but it looks like additions would be new draft picks.
My players to watch include:
Niko Vazquez (struggled significantly this year at QC, but showed real promise last season)
Jason Stidham (big time college performer at Florida St.)
Ryan Jackson (Adam Everett type SS, question is can he hit?)
Deryk Hooker (suspended under drug policy, thought not to be a PED (right?), can he regain momentum?)
Can any of the listed outfielders put up numbers that are halfway respectable?
By the way, most of my knowledge of these prospects is the result of the awesome Future Redbirds. Az, erik, HL, Jeff, and others make it the number one stop for Cards minor league info. Thanks guys. They usually welcome notes on players along with their DFRs as well.
Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.
I think I'm right in saying that
Joe Kelly, our 3rd round pick who’s a big, hard-throwing righty reliever (closer?) signed quite recently and was rumoured to be on his way to batavia. Wouldn’t shock me if Virgil Hill (who RB described as a right-handed Chris Duncan type, ugh) might end up on the roster too? I’m guessing some of the lower end draft guys we signed (see http://stlouis.cardinals.mlb.com/team/draft.jsp?c_id=stl) will probably end up playing short-season or rookie ball somewhere. I’m also intrigued to see that (apparently) FOUR of the guys we drafted at the end of the draft have a middle name beginning with X – either that’s a mistake on MLB.com, or Luhnow’s idea of a practical joke…
Because chicks dig the intentional base on balls.
I thought Kyle Conley was the Chris Duncan type guy?
Virgil Hill is the descendant of Olympians, whose heroic exploits will be sung by poets at banquets and feasts, where the roasted meats are plentiful and the wine, gift of Dionysus, flows like a river in the fertile countryside where young men and girls work the fertile fields harvesting olives and wheat and grapes and sing and dance and play flutes and drums during the festival to give thanks to the gods for their bounty.
Actually, I found the quote: “Reading the scouting reports, Conley sounds Chris Duncan-esque. Big, tall hitter with pull power, weak contact and defensive skills.” Here’s the page on FutureRedbirds with a description of him and a few other hitters from the draft.
There's no "I" in team. There's also no "I" in "B-g Mac Land".
Ahhh yeah
that sounds about right. Brother of the vestal virgins, right?

rained out.
Sorry to take up fanpost space, but once I see the Muck Dogs I will fine a report if I see something worth while.
