For being the manager of the Oakland A's, a team that appears to have had several juicers, and now the Cardinals with juicers both past on present on the roster, TLR seems to get a free pass regarding his relationship with the situation. Personally, the hypocrisy of comments like "zero tolerance" is astonishing to me given his record.

WTF SAMMY SOSA WAS CONNECTED WITH PEDS?!?!

I, for one, did not see that coming.

Because chicks dig the intentional base on balls.

Hmmm

TLR’s Oakland teams were, if nothing else, the home of the ultimate ’roider of all. His Cardinals teams had numerous guys named in the Mitchell Report, although many of whom were implicated before or after they played in STL.

If zero tolerance is indeed TLR’s policy, what does that mean? Does it mean that anyone caught should be booted? Does it mean that anyone who was caught or implicated in the past can’t play for a LaRussa team? See, in my mind, if you start tossing ‘roiders out fo the game, you’re going to run out of players fairly quickly.

Who the hell knows what’s going on in LaRussa’s mind half the time. I don’t think I want to know.

is that the same zero tolerance he has for pitches near batters heads?

how many pitchers has he suspended for near-bean balls? right.

Agree

I simply can’t believe that someone can be in charge of a baseball team and spend virtually every day with his players from February through September/October and not have a pretty good idea of whether they’re using PEDS. I would have much more respect for a guy like Larussa if he admitted that he was lax about the issue earlier in his career and that he has evolved to a position of zero tolerance. In a way that is what has really happened to the majority of baseball people, sportswriters and even fans. A great deal of good could be accomplished if players and other baseball personnel could come clean about this issue. The good would extend to pariahs like McGwire who could probably benef from getting it off his chest. Were I the commissioner I would try to set up a situation where this could happen. In the meantime, though, I agree that self righteous statements from guys like Larussa is mere hypocrisy.

This. I totally agree with this.

She isn't crazy, she's just not impressed.
