Does anyone else
find it humorous that this place is called Land Shark Stadium? Shouldn’t there be a certain volume of beer you sell before you can sponsor stadiums?
are you saying that land shark is a beer?

Rasmus is quickly becoming
a badass
"I remember once talking to one guy on the Cardinals and asking him what Pujols was like as a teammate. He said something that’s really special, if you think about it. He said: "Albert is so good that you feel like you let him down when you screw up." I thought that had to be the ultimate line that could ever be said about a ballplayer. I build my baseball team around that ballplayer."

I’m somewhat excited about that pick.
If all goes well in the minors, what could be the best case scenario eta? Three years?
interesting note
THT’s “dartboard” still thinks (or thought, on Monday) that we’re the 4th-best team in baseball, when strength of schedule and pythagorean records are considered.

that is what we needed
In the first Inning. A hard hit ball by Duncan. Pujols not trying to do much. And Rasmus making them pay.
Now we just need the Wagonmaker to be himself.
Three years and 20 pounds from now
Colby’s going to hit 40 homers

I'll stick of for Tony here.
I’ll say that Tony putting Rasmus in positions to succeed is one of the reasons rasmus has been able to come out of his early season slump to be the hitter he currently is. But putting him in favorable match ups it has Lead to success for him as well as getting him comfertable at the Major League level and protecting him from the media when he fails.
he does this at every level
did the managers coddle him at each promotion with favorable matchups? kids just talented regardless of la russa’s meddling.

Not having to do with that catch he just made, but...
dare I say Ryan is becoming a “major leaguer?”
b. ryan
Needs to calm down going after balls outside of the infield..could’ve knocked Duncan out of baseball with that play last night where they both slid into the wall
Tonight Colby probably could’ve easily made that play at a better angle, but looked like he backed off because he knew Ryan would be taking that ball
Bunch of other examples the last few weeks
tough to maintain a +40ish UZR/150 @ SS
without cutting a few corners, ya know

I had a dream last light I got into a fist fight with Ankiel
"I remember once talking to one guy on the Cardinals and asking him what Pujols was like as a teammate. He said something that’s really special, if you think about it. He said: "Albert is so good that you feel like you let him down when you screw up." I thought that had to be the ultimate line that could ever be said about a ballplayer. I build my baseball team around that ballplayer."
He was in center and I was in left and he misplayed a ball so I started talking crap.
He took off sprinting towards me and I had to do a little dodge move, it gets a little fuzzy after that.

I'm getting tired of people saying Wainwright (Marlins announcer this time)
is a former reliever. They make it sound like he’s a reliever turned starter. In fact, he’s a starter, turned into a reliever out of necessity, then came back into the rotation when circumstances allowed.
WORD!

I still don't get that
of course the first baseball teams I really remember are the early 80s cards, and for the most part, the starters were always starters. Are we sure this isn’t just something that has came along in the LaRussa years and people just tend to think that is always the way it has been?
I would be more than happy to revoke that statement if it was proven wrong.

Did KG seriously have 3 errors at memphis or are you making that up?
Brought to you by Karl's Jr.
only two
another one was initially ruled an error and the manager said they got it changed to a hit.
Is Ryan really hitting .300?
Why would we try the K Greene experiment again while he is performing so well?
"Rasmus doesn't hit lefties. Instead he bashes them over the head with their own bleeding arm he just raced to the mound to rip off before the ball arrives to the plate. He then smashes that baseball with the pitchers bloody arm over the wall because he does not hit lefites he bashes them." Ted Lilly
he's lucky on balls in play
but right now, with his glove, i can’t see how he’s not worth his place in the team…

Can't argue
with a prophet! But for him to hit, it means Ryan &/or Tyler won’t be playing.
by kkkkathmandubirdsview on Jun 10, 2009 8:31 PM EDT up reply actions
My sentiments
exactly – even if Ryan would only be hitting .250. However, KG’s big salary is a factor.
by kkkkathmandubirdsview on Jun 10, 2009 8:28 PM EDT up reply actions
Why is it a factor?
If you truly believe that Ryan/T Greene will be better than Khalil going forward that the smart move is to choose what ever will most likely help you win. Khalil salary is a sunk cost.

I agree
that the salary is a sunk cost, but the trade (if anyone would be interested) would eliminate the sunk cost. However, I just don’t see management giving up on him at his price. Could be wrong on that however.
