closed door meeting after the game

Duncan can’t be allowed to call off other outfielders

by Scarecrow7775 on May 9, 2009 8:37 PM EDT reply actions

what's discouraging is

we lost to a AAA team last night (altho they had a good pitcher)… and Harang’s control is great; he also paid the home plate ump before the game

by the Tewk on May 9, 2009 8:37 PM EDT reply actions

yes

very nice and cozy; small, but they did many things right.
And as you already know, the ball carries well

but i don’t mind it being my home ballpark

Good pitching will always keep you competitve so Cincy won't be an easy win as long as they have Cueto, Volquez, & Harang.

One other point…

Pujols has not been the same since getting plunked in the kidneys. That really pisses me off. It is like Hunter creaming Turgeon along the boards. Totally illegal and thug like just because you can’t win with talent.

well, they didn't hit albert intentionally

to me, it looks like he’s been swinging for the fences on every swing the last 2 days. Which is going to have the results we’re seeing.

I was at an As game against the Angels

back in 04 at which an ump called the runner safe at second on a phantom call. I’ve never heard such swearing at a ball game. Oakland fans know how to yell.

I think Mulder might have pitched that game for the As – whoever it was gave up buckets and buckets of runs to the Angels.

by emrfg8 on May 9, 2009 9:02 PM EDT up reply actions

Not the point.

Lohse should have already been out of this game whenever he started being completely unable to get the ball down. We’ve got only four men on the bench because Tony just HAS to have extra relief arms, yet somehow it’s still imperative to leave Lohse out there to save the bullpen or some other bullshit.

If you've got a blacklist, I want to be on it.

It's interesting,

Fun game in LA (American League)

Greinke started for the Royals; they’re down 1-0 in the top of the 8th, but they have runners at 2nd and 3rd with one out. Greinke’s over 100 pitches, so I’d hope he’s done for the night. They can give him the win or at least get him off the hook here….

by gdm426 on May 9, 2009 11:21 PM EDT up reply actions

Not the game I was expecting

Well I was at this crappy game. My seats were great…11 rows up from behind home plate. The ump was REALLY giving Herrang a “home town strike zone” tonight…to put it lightly. I’m not saying Herrang pitched bad…but he had a lot of help tonight.

I don’t know about anybody else but I am growing tired of Thurston. He wasn’t any kind of threat at the plate tonight. I would have rather seen Barden but I am really hoping Glaus will get better a little quicker.

Albert had a bad game but the homplate ump wasn’t helping him either…I was rather bummed where he popped out to the catcher with two men on…uugh.

One other thing….Tonight was my first night seeing Rasmus in a live game setting. I wasn’t real happy with his at bats tonight. Not going to get too critical but I am starting to worry a little. He isn’t really setting the world on fire…I hope he gets into a groove soon and can prove he deserves to be in the bigs. Not real impressed so far…I hate to say but I think he will start to get it together soon.

Lohse had a bad night. I knew after that 30 pitch 1st inning it wasn’t going to be one of his better outings. Tony should have got him out there earlier. Just a pretty bad game all around. Ludwick’s homer was the only bright spot. I hope I see a better game the next time.

We’ve got a long way to go and a short time to get there.

by KYCards on May 10, 2009 3:01 AM EDT reply actions

Seriously

from what I have seen, his approach at the plate has looked excellent and he is a very good defender.
