Cardinals, always about winning

he says TLR turned his career around, all with just playing 2 months for the guy, nice piece that shows that TLR can turn players around, and as we all know, Dave Duncan can turn pitchers around as well. Even though lopez isn't the best fielder, he did provide a great bat for us down the stretch and even though skip is suberb as he can be at 2nd, when the offseason came around i was hoping to get lopez back for a year.

It'll be interesting to see
if Lopez can keep performing at such a high level. he’s actually been positive defensively this year, which is really surprising.
My guess is he still ends the season about a 90 OPS+ and a half win below average defensively.

Something good happened when he joined us.
He was positive defensively for the Cards last season when he played in the infield. His OF performances were what dragged his UZR/150 down.
That’s probably a fair guess based on his career performance, but I’m hoping for something more. I really liked Floppy down the stretch in 2008 and wish him well.

Once again
UZR is completely worthless in such a small sample size. They are too many error bars. Floppy is still like the -10 defender he has always been.

Sometime
getting told by the team paying you that “we’ll pay you the rest of what we owe you if you just LEAVE!” (i.e. DFA) has a positive effect on the player. Especially when that team is one of the three worst in baseball.
Lopez just seems like the classic slacker to me. He only gets up and gets after it when his ass is on the line — and I think maybe he had an adjustment to that after getting cut by the worst organization in baseball last year.

He played great for us
And I found it unfortunate that the team couldn’t find a way to resign him, because he was a good utility guy. He’s having a great year with Arizona.
Welcome to Baseball Heaven.
