GO Barden. the anti Derosa
"Rasmus doesn't hit lefties. Instead he bashes them over the head with their own bleeding arm he just raced to the mound to rip off before the ball arrives to the plate. Surprised

Two control pitchers
(both lefties) and some borderline pitching prospects, probably relievers, doesn’t seem all that bad.
Too bad we don’t have any starting lefties… I don’t expect Evan MacLane would perk them up, in spite of his fine pitching since coming over.
Guys like Bradley are exactly why we can't have a pumpkin patch anymore.
we have a Todd Wellemeyer
PLENTY of Todd Wellemeyers to go around. Step right up, bidders!
On with the (good) youth movement!
they gave him the contract.
they should suck it up and deal with it.
(and I hate to do this, but no apostrophe in “Fathers”)
On with the (good) youth movement!
Peavy's contract
Will be an albatross around his neck. Not even the Cubbies want to suck up that contract in this economy.
He's such an excellent pitcher, though

Could somebody explain the

If
Thurston is your 25th guy, he’s in a heck of a position and you have a heck of a team.
The problem is, he is getting the same treatment Miles did for the last two years, and the guy who should be the last guy off the bench is not only the first PH, but he starts 2/3 of games.
It’s not Thurston’s fault, just as it wasn’t Mile’s fault.

Todd Koppernoll at Brewersfan.net has an interview with former major leaguer Brooks Kieschnick, the first player to hit a home run as a pitcher, a pinch hitter, and as a DH. This is a fascinating account of the rise and fall of a ballplayer. Key quote: “I knew my career was in trouble the minute the Cubs drafted me.”
Why did the Cubs trade for Freel?
Aren’t he and Reed Johnson like the exact same player?

I just looked at your blog...
and I hate you for mentioning the beatdown at Neyland in ’04. I somehow ended up sitting alone at that game, directly in front of some Auburn people. Probably you. I hate you.
Naw man
I was in Auburn’s marching band at that point. I doubt you were in front of us.
But, if I weren’t in the marching band at that point, I would have heckled you. Then talked with you about how awesome the Cards were (because that was 2004). Will you be in Knoxville this year for Kiffin vs. Chizik round 1?

Yeah it's my last season as a student...
Up to this point I’ve overseen the worst 4 year stretch in program history, so I need redemption. I’d be thrilled with 7-5…will you be there?
Absolutely
Just about my whole family are Tennessee fans. Some of my family are UGA fans. I’m the black sheep who made his way down to Auburn. All that being said, you can count on me being in Neyland for this year’s Tigers/Vols game, I only wish we played more often than twice out of every five years!

Somehow...
I can find no hate in my heart for Auburn, despite the ownage you guys have issued in the last 4 or so meetings. And the fact that we keep losing basketball games down there, which is what really gets under my skin. But we both hate Bama and Georgia, and ya’ll do to Florida what we can’t seem to, so I guess that’s why.
It was a great rivalry before they split into the divisions in ’92 or whatever it was, but that was a little before my time.
Alot of Auburn fans have a large amount of hatred for UT
I’ve heard Auburn people say they’d rather root fo UAT than UT. I say, we pretty much have the same rivals. Before 2003, Auburn played UF and UGA out of the East, which were arguably UT’s biggest rivals. UT played UAT (and Arky) out of the West, of which one was a huge Auburn rival (take a guess). Auburn and UT hate the same people. I don’t see why we don’t join forces more often!

That's interesting...
I didn’t realize Tennessee was so unpopular on the plains. Of course everything UT/Kiffin-related is somehow associated with the antichrist himself at this point, so everyone hates us right now. So much of this crap has gotten blown so far out of proportion, it’s insane. For example, Kiffin fired the strength coach today that was hired in December, mainly due to him being a lunatic and pissing off the coaches in other sports. That is currently a headline on the main page of espn.com right now. A freakin’ strength coach. But regardless, we’re both in for a few beatdowns the next couple of seaons until the recruiting gets back to where it should be. I just can’t wait ’til Bama gets caught redhanded again…
To answer both of your posts
Yeah, I was very surprised to find out about the animosity for UT from Auburn folks. I just figured, “we hate the same people, why wouldn’t we get along?” I guess it doesn’t work like that. Consider me one of the few Auburn folks who roots for UT.
If you talk to most Alabama fans, they’ll say that Auburn fans shouldn’t revel in the fact we beat them for six straight years, because “they were on probation for part of it, and they had Mike Shula for a coach for part of it.” I can’t wait until we beat Saban as their coach and hear those excuses. If they can’t beat you, they’ll blame the NCAA and come up with an excuse for why they couldn’t beat you.

That's what Milwaukee did with Braun, though...
He was brutal at 3rd when they called him up in ‘07, but he also raked at the plate. Now they didn’t make the playoffs obviously, but I doubt that was due to Braun’s D…also, I hate Ryan Braun.
That's not to say Wallace will hit the way Braun did...
I’m just saying they might want to overlook the defensive concerns if the offense continues to struggle and they think he’d be a boost.
Actually
Ryan’s D was worth about -30 runs that year! I doubt that Wallace’s D is that bad. All in all, he would likely be a slight upgrade over Thurston/Barden. Give the amount of playing time in question, the difference between them would be less than a win. Would that be worth messing with Wallace’s development and starting his Arb clock early? In my opinion, it wouldn’t.
