it doesn't matter when the run was scored
he left with the lead, that lead was never given up thus he gets the W. It is a bit confusing till you just remember it doesn’t matter when a run is scored just when a lead changes or a tie happens.
"People call me El Hombre," Pujols said. "But only Stan is the Man."
if the team has the lead when he leaves the game (provided hes pitched at least 5 innings)
then it doesnt matter how many times the other team or the cardinals score as long as they maintain the lead. The game could have ended up 10-9 and he would have still gotten the lead as long as the cubs didn’t tie it up

you never know what you are going to needed
we absolutely could have used him in the OF recently, and it could always happen again.
That’s why he’s so valuable.
That would be amazing
But you’d have to be careful what you give up.
Someone like Boggs for instance, will be a solid/cheap pitcher for years to come, an absolute necessity for the team in the coming years.
i'm sure they want bullpen help, with as bad as theirs is
so you could probably get him for Motte.
now that was hilarious
tony and his post-game press conference was priceless… just a giddy guy giving the reporters shit. I loved it!
FWIW
per Fangraphs, Duncan was our top batter by WPA (.098), followed by Pujols (.095) and Khalil (.027).
Carp was .289, KMac .179. The other pitchers were all positive.
the Rangers had a triple play against the Tigers tonight
men on 1st and 2nd, running on the pitch, liner to the 2nd basemen moving toward the bag, flip to the SS to force the lead runner, the trail runner had a ridiculous jump and was 80% of the way to 2nd.
Dumb 2nd baseman
Probably could have pulled the unassisted triple play, if he had thought about it
