Game 38 Open Thread: Brewers at Cardinals
Milwaukee Brewers at St. Louis Cardinals, May 18, 2009 8:15 PM EDT
Looper and Lohse today in the makeup game--if you're reading this abbreviated game thread, it's because I'm in the process of moving out of my apartment and avoiding speeding tickets all along US 54.
Here's hoping Rasmus gets that homer back tonight.

Rickie Weeks is done
Mr. Weeks was starting to show off his talent, and it sounds like he’s done now with that wrist injury he suffered the other night. LINKY .

New VEB T-Shirt Ideas?
I am thinking of making a new shirt design. The current one is awfully ugly (no offense). The problem is that I can’t use any trademarked Cardinal logo’s. All I got so far is getting a Red and White baseball cut t-shirt with Viva El Birdos on the back with the numbers 67.
Anyone got any ideas for the front?

Hopefully
it gives this team a shot in the arm

An option covers the entire year I believe...
So Thompson is in his last option year, so he can go up and down the rest of this year.
pk is out of options
people keep syaing this, but it doesn;t make any sense to me. An iotion still lasts all year, right?

I could get mad about Lohse giving up a 3 run jack, but with the offense not scoring AGAIN
does it really even matter?
a 4 run lead feels like a 10 run leauge when things are going this bad
The Redbirds are of the highest priority to me... As it should be
it also feels like a 1 run lead, which feels like a 10 run lead
Cubs vs. a pitcher that used to play for them. Can’t do jack.
It's not "things are going bad"
It’s, "our team is filled with a bunch of replacement level players (Greene, Stavinoha, Barden), unseasoned guys (Rasmus), two decent players, Yadi, and Pujols.
Is very bad to steal A-Pu's rum...is very bad.

That's what happens when replacement level guys get cold and you can't replace them.

what we really need is a comeback victory
The Redbirds are of the highest priority to me... As it should be
If they're gonna put me through this shit this year like 2006
They better win the fuckin’ Series again

Alright
Fat Miles, Pujols and Duncan next inning. I look forward to seeing Razzums hit a grand slam.

uhhh. i'm just going to imagine this to be an overheated statement in the moment.
there’s a difference between saying “that was not a good plate appearance” and expecting hitters to get a hit at every opportunity.

nobody else is hitting
so Albert feels like he needs extra bases every time he’s up, he’s not content with the walk these days….
there have been a bunch of those tonight
for both teams. we’re just not taking ours

Our hardest hit balls go foul
On top of lackluster offense, and so-so pitching, we have zero breaks going our way.

you know, for all the good press the Cards farm system has gotten recently
i find it really hard to believe this is the best they can call up when the shit hits the fan
It kind of sounds like he’s [Duncan] just running around like a puppy out there – full speed ahead in random directions. – BTown Birds Fan
Who in AA or AAA recently is worthy of getting good press, aside from Rasmus or Wallace (not ready)??
I don’t really see a place for Anderson, and for some unfathomable reason, Todd is now a reliever.

It's not like these guys are putting up 1.000+ OPS in AAA
They are having good, not great years in AA.

have you looked at their numbers? hill and descalso both had 1.000+ ops at AA for quite
a while. not sure where the numbers are now.
they were having seasons pretty much as good as they come.

Well you didn't specify
you said “good press”. And just for reference Albert never put up a 1.000 OPS in the minors. Joe Mather did.

Lohse out after 4
Because he pitched a couple of innings on Friday? Or should I be concerned?

I think that's slightly weird
that Tony would pull him like that for the top of the 5th….it’s not like he pulled him for a pinch hitter.
