Game 36 Open Thread: Brewers at Cardinals

| Gallardo | Lohse |
| 4-1, 3.09 | 3-2, 4.25 |
It doesn't look promising, baseball-wise, from here in Columbia, but this game thread is going up as scheduled regardless. The reason the Cardinals couldn't throw a lot of money at Ben Sheets, pre-injury, vs. the reason the Brewers didn't. Winner takes first place in the NL Central.

some news to chew on while we wait:
1) Boggs demoted for Ryan. Sorry all you who wanted to see Welley in the bullpen instead, it’s gonna be carpenter taking boggs’ spot.
2)Kenny Maiques suspended for 50 days for smoking whatever he found in Deryk Hooker’s locker.

HEY! What about me?!?
I believe I replied something like -
“I’m surprised Carp’s ready to make his next start – anyone else feel they may be rushing him? I’d be more comfortable with at least one rehab start. Plus, I think Boggs has held the fort pretty well”

Brenden Ryan is a goofball
and I love it.
"I remember once talking to one guy on the Cardinals and asking him what Pujols was like as a teammate. He said something that’s really special, if you think about it. you’d have to look in old game threads, but it was a theme in april
It was based on Tony telling Colby to put the ball in play and take walks to get on the team instead of trying to power through ST (akin to Dunc, Luddy)

just watched adam laroche
take one of the worst ABs i’ve seen this year – 0 outs, man on 2nd base, trying to sac bunt to get him over. 1st pitch he bunts foul, 2nd pitch he bunts foul. 3rd pitch he swings and misses by about 6 feet. Awful.

it’s still raining here in KC. They may as well call this one. It ain’t gonna be done raining in STL for a while. We got a solid 2" between about 4:30 and 6:30, and it’s still storming. It won’t be done raining in STL til the middle of the night or even til morning. Forget it.

When's the last time a rainout helped us
I don’t watch every game so this is purely anecdotal, but it seems like every time there’s a rainout its us getting screwed, not the other team (not that a 2-0 lead is a definite win, but I hate to see the Rasmus HR get scrapped)
maybe it was Barton

MLB TV Blackouts
Can anyone explain to me how MLB TV blackouts work? I get that I can’t watch games broadcast on Fox or ESPN. But why would I, in Atlanta, be blacked out for Baltimore and Washington’s games, when I can still see Atlanta’s game?
This makes no sense, and ticks me off when I want to watch BAL@KC.
go to BizOfBaseball.com, they have a lot of good info about the asinine blackout policy
It kind of sounds like he’s [Duncan] just running around like a puppy out there – full speed ahead in random directions. – BTown Birds Fan
Thanks
That was helpful. That map’s ridiculous. According to it, I should only be blacked out from ATL’s games (which I’m not), but there could be some screw-up with my IP address, I guess. After reading all the complaining from people that are blocked from watching their favorite team, I won’t gripe any more that I can’t see two teams that I really don’t care about.
I heart Zach Greinke!

Wow, you beat me to it
I was going to post this:
I’m sorry if this was posted earlier but WHY IN THE BLUE HELL DID THEY ACTIVATE BRENDAN RYAN?!?!
Was Tony afraid we would run out of MIF’ers? Were the good Greene and the Disappointing Greene not sufficient at SS? Was Tony afraid the Good Greene, Skippy and Thurston couldn’t man 2B? Were Brian Barden (who?!?!) Joe Thurston and the Good Greene not capable of fulfillfing all his double-switching wet dreams? Look, I like Boog but why the rush? He hadn’t even gotten a hit in rehab yet. We need OF’ers right now. We need pop off the bench. Brendan Ryan does not provide help with either.
When did it become ok for the manager to try to fill the team with an entire roster of himself? It’s like he is Micheal Keaton and the Cardinals are Multiplicity. He’s just creating variations of his light hitting, not Grade-A prospect, MIF’ing self.
Of course, Mo is the one that makes the roster moves.
