Administration Kills UNI College Baseball Program
This is completely off topic, but I found the lack of interest in saving a baseball program that's been in existence for 103 years striking. There's been literally no effort on the part of the administration to save the program and plenty of roadblocks put in the way of those trying to save it.
It's a sad day for baseball in Iowa -- we now have only one of three major state universities with a baseball program.

Terrible News for Northern Iowa
I saw Northern Iowa play a doubleheader a few years back in Jonesboro against Arkansas State. I love college baseball. The Missouri Valley Conference has had some great teams with Wichita State and Creighton in the conference. I hate to see Northern Iowa leave the MVC in baseball.

Sometimes Things Like This Must Happen
Being a fan of the MVC, I am sad to hear this, but maybe it is for the best that many colleges are cutting sports programs. Sure, a lot of schools will be without athletics, but the schools that retain it will field better teams, making the games more competitive. The competition to recruit talented players will also grow more intense, and maybe we can finally get rid of the stupid rule that athletes can’t be paid or given gifts. This will also mean less spots nation-wide for under-the-radar or lesser talented players, but I have a feeling players like Eckstein will still find a way to the Majors if this is their true passion. Plus I can never disagree with anything that means less public money being spent.
