"I remember once talking to one guy on the Cardinals and asking him what Pujols was like as a teammate. He said something that’s really special, if you think about it. He said: "Albert is so good that you feel like you let him down when you screw up." I thought that had to be the ultimate line that could ever be said about a ballplayer. I build my baseball team around that ballplayer."

I googled all 4 cities under sites of music lyric sites cause I assumed it was a song
But Tuscaloosa was throwing off my results. Take that out boom we have the answer

Yeah, maybe I should have used Eugene, Oregon instead of "Tuscalusa"

My last three months in the Marines I had to do MP duty
at Marine Corps Air Station New River in North Carolina and about once a day, I’d get on the radio and say “units be advised there is an attempt 211 to arrest now at 938 temple” and immediately somebody would get online and say “shut up, fritz.”
I swear, it was hilarious at the time.

Nice
I would have laughed

Hopefully...
this start by Carp will give the rest of the rotation some confidence.
The way his first/last start of 07 sucked all the confidence out of the rotation (except 2nd half Wainwright).

Good morning, gentlemen
I missed one hell of a game – stuff happens when your city is under siege from cabbies. How good did Carp look? Is the consensus that Motte’s in the House of Dog for a while?

9th Inning featured 2 Lefties and a switch hitter
So I am not jumping to conclusions yet

Yup
it was a good move. I always wondered why Tony played all possible splits in the bullpen until it was the 9th, and then it was all Izzy, regardless of who was coming up. I liked the move for Reyes a lot.
And to answer your first question, akaitori: No hits through 6 & 2/3s and should havebeen through 7 if not for Skip being a 2nd. It was vintage Carp, just pounding the zone.

Thanks - went through the threads. Grr on missing this one.

Agreed
Seemed like a great spot for TLR to bring in the lefty. I bet Motte gets more chances, the Pitt lineup just set up better for Reyes.

Things that would take more than one lifetime:
I GOT A LONG ROAD AHEAD OF ME TO MAKE PEOPLE BELIEVE I’M NOT ACTUALLY A HUGE DOUCHE BUT I’M UP FOR THE CHALLENGE.
While watching the episode last night with the cards on mute
I was thrilled to see what they did to Kanye. Now I am really dissappointed to see that on the surface he didnt take it too badly. I was personally hoping for him to be up in arms about it, so I could go back and watch the episode with even more enjoyment.

Carp is back in form
Maybe I’m jumping ship a little, but it seems like Carp is back to his old Cy Young-esk self. He’s had a great spring and is showing no signs of slowing down. Since we’ve been waiting for two years, and he’s finally producing, hopefully this is a good sign of things to come.
Welcome to Baseball Heaven.
Carp will be awesome as long as he is healthy
you just have to pray he remains healthy.

Though it won’t count, since the game is going to get rained out.
