High-scoring affair, maybe 8-6 or something. Not sure on the winner.

I don't know if it's been mentioned already
These threads are getting crazy long again… But the attendance last night was only 35,206, the lowest in the history of the stadium. Last year’s average was 42,353. Ticket sales might be doing better than attendance because of season ticket holders continuing to pay high ticket prices, but the low attendance will have to have an impact if it keeps up. If the average attendance is even 4,000 less than last year and the average fan spends just $15 at the game, over a full season that’s roughly $5 million lost compared to last year. That’s roughly 5-6% of our current payroll. That goes on top of the money they’re already losing from lower ticket sales. If the attendance from last night was the norm over the whole year, we’re talking $8.5 million. Let’s hope this economy gets turned around quick because waiting for it to self correct may cost us some players.
And I’m loving Rasmus in the leadoff spot tonight. At this point he’s more of a doubles type guy so he should work well there. Whatever the case, he’s better than Ryan.
The Godfather himself has decided to grace us with his presence. This is his damn house. He sleeps 20 feet away.
Temperature
Im not sure if I’m off base here or not, but, would the cold temperatures, and it being a Tuesday night, maybe have had something to do with the downed attendance?
I dont know that I would have been in the stands. Then again, Im a southern boy… I dont like the cold.

if he makes us forget glaus
he’s a lot better than everyone has said he will be
Personally, I'm willing to accept that
But I think the 3rd baseman most likely to induce Glaus-forgetting has to be the Walrus.

You could well be right
I haven’t seen him play yet & won’t for another three weeks. Not certain if I believe the positive reports about his improvement in fielding.

I hate that guy
Get your own style, man. I was sitting in the second row behind the Pirates dugout on opening day and every time he came out I screamed, “You’re not Juan Pierre!” at him.
I was clearly in his head, since he went 3 for 4 or something.
So that he can steal second?

vazquez at 3b. that’s the only starting lineup change we’ve seen all series on pgh’s end, yes? or have we seen another starter in right? can’t remember if moss started the other two games.

Vazquez
He was scheduled to start today’s game before the series started. But the whole “my fielding average is almost as bad as my batting average and I haven’t got a hit yet” isn’t the best way to go about getting regular playing time.
Duncan's turn to sit.
I bet Ankiel sits tomorrow. We might see a complete 4 day rotation for these guys. Man our outfield is good.
This is why I can't understand why Rasmus isn't in the minors for a month
We don’t really need him. Let Barton play for a month and put off Razzle’s FA.
Oh well.
The pitcher hits eighth...

Mike Cameron’s career against Randy Johnson. 2-29 18 Ks

top of the list was odalis perez. a surprising one in the top five was randy johnson.

On April 8th, 2001, Pujols doubled off Johnson his second time facing him, scoring two runners.

is Mediacom Iowa/FSM (channel 40) not showing the game again tonight? again, it shows up on tv guide channel, but no pre-game show.
this sucks.
this could be a fun season
A forum poster on the official Cardinal site says that a customer service rep said that if the games are not sold out there will be a blackout of out of state broadcasts.
The time has come to switch over to DIRECTV
* sarcasm might be involved in this comment
what?
how many baseball games actually sell out?
it can’t be that many
or it could just be the surcharge game
I know I should, but I can’t always trust people on forums.
* sarcasm might be involved in this comment
I would definitly switch
I had mediacom a couple of years ago in Ames and missed a lot of games, Had directv last year and no problems. And if you can spring for it get all the sports channels definitly worth it to get way more baseball (only one that we had trouble with was NESN roommate was a red sox fan and pissed a lot of the time) Btw I’m pretty sure Iowa is the place where baseball on tv goes to die, I think whoever writes the blackout rules should live there awhile and experience how frustrating it is. I mean who’s driving 6 hours to go see a Cards or Cubs game thats not sold out?
Blackout rules
I bought MLB.TV for the first time this year so I could watch the Cards games in northern Iowa. Opening day I found out the black me out saying I’m in the local TV viewing area even though I’m 8+ hours away. Needless to say I called them and told them I lived 20 minutes north and they overruled the blackout so I can watch now.
She's wrong
MLB doesn’t have sell-out blackout rules.
by Hardcore Legend on Apr 8, 2009 8:10 PM EDT up reply actions
I thought that sounded fishy
Looks likes I am going to have to fire off another email for the blackout list, or…F- it. DirecTV carries all the games on FSN, or do I need the Extra Innings package?
* sarcasm might be involved in this comment
i saw your blackout list from last year
and tried to e-mail Mediacom for the one this year. This was the response I got:
Your area is considered home territory for the St Louis Cardinals. Therefore the MLB reserves the right to black out these games regardless of the channels they may play on. Mediacom Communications does provide the channels to our customers, but we do not control the programming on those channels. These decisions are made generally at the last moment therefore we would not be able to tell you what games will be aired or blacked out.
You know, if mlb.com offered blackout tokens
Like $1 per game to void the blackout (on top of the regular mlb.tv cost), I’d totally buy that up.
