The way the Braves announcers were talking about it
Sounds like Molina saw something, called Weinberg out, Motte looked to me like he thought he was fine

come on skippity doo daa
Chuck Norris doesn't need a bat.
he just roundhouse kicks the ball out of the park.
Thurston was trying to make this game serious on that first swing
"I remember once talking to one guy on the Cardinals and asking him what Pujols was like as a teammate. He said something that’s really special, if you think about it. He said: "Albert is so good that you feel like you let him down when you screw up." I thought that had to be the ultimate line that could ever be said about a ballplayer. I build my baseball team around that ballplayer."
I think this would be the first time that
it hasnt been serious in two straight games

Gotta say
Even though this series feels like everything was against us (lethargic hitting, unfriendly zone, arguably best relief pitcher losing his key pitch) it’s rather nice to win the series.
Offense didn’t protect the ’pen at all and we still gained a game over the Cubbies through these three days.
I hate days off as anyone else, but we so need one.

Strike zones
I mentioned this in a reply in the main post but was somewhat late to the party tonight so I’ll repeat the question here.
It seems to my me, watching only Cards games so far mind you, that the low strike is not being called this year. In only one game that I’ve watched has the knee-high strike been called consistently. Does anyone suppose that, unbeknownst to us, the umps have been directed to “raise the zone” some this year, maybe in an attempt to coax more offense?
On the other hand, maybe it’s what Al (or maybe it was Dan) said once about tonight’s ump, something along the line of “he’s a big guy and just doesn’t want to get down there to see that low strike”.
