Look, I don't ask for much. All I want from the 2009 season is for Carp and Adam to combine for 420 IP and go 1-2 in the Cy Young voting, and for Albert to win the MVP again. Oh, and for the Cubs to never win another World Series as long as I live. I really don't think that is too much to ask.

Tonights the night
The Raz and The Mang are going back to back tonight. We need to win big to celebrate the Cubs getting SLAPPED by the D-Backs
And Luddy sits
We really need to trade one of the outfielders by the trade deadline. Who? I have no idea. I’d think Raz and Lud are keepers…but what do I know.
just based on how all the national announcers slobber over him,
i’d think ankiel would have the most trade value relative to his actual merit.

So how do are we grading the Schu experiment?
Has his defense made him simply a league average player?
Chuck Norris bows to no man...but he does bow to The Mang.
What I meant
was that he’s probably below average still at this point. Hopefully he’ll continue to improve defensively, and then he can be average. Or – dare to dream – above average.
Classic underachiever.
Defense.
But his bat isn’t going to make up for it if he stays 30 runs below average.

It matters.
A run-costing error now is better than a run-costing error in the bottom of 8th. Sure, the game might be won/lost on those plays, but there are plenty of plays between now and the end to make a difference in the outcome.

It means to let the ball travel deeper into the zone
You need to let the ball get deeper in the zone and trust that your hands are quick enough to hit the ball instead of lunging out the hit the ball in front of the plate.

The strike zone for Waino has been inconsistent at best.
You can tell he gets frustrated with the non-calls on the lower half, and tries to elevate the ball just a bit. This leads to some sloppy pitches. His control is just a bit off anyway, though.
He threw
a high curve that probably should’ve been a strike according to Gameday.
Classic underachiever.
Oh, totally.
Wainwright got squeezed on another high pitch, too. He’s clearly pitching up to avoid walking everyone.
Classic underachiever.

From the games i've watched,
it seems we’ve been getting jobbed on the low strike pretty much all season. There was one game, against the Flubs maybe?, that I recall the low strike being called but it almost looks like someone told the umpires they wanted more offense this year, so quit calling the strike at the knees.

The ball didn't change its trajectory at all.
It seemded like it was the sound of the ball hitting the plate to me
The sound was too high-pitched
And the replay showed that it landed behind the plate. The ball’s trajectory doesn’t need to change perceptibly for it to be a foul ball.
what are dan n al listening to
2 sounds on that replay: ball hitting ground, then ball hitting chest protector.
