Walking

It looked like that was an unintentional intentional walk of Chipper. If so, that was a dumb move. Putting on the go ahead run on purpose doesn’t make sense if it’s Babe Frickin’ Ruth. I'm sorry that sometimes people use common phrases literally and I don't catch on.

how many times does someone shout at an official “are you watching the same game” after a bad call is made.

by TheBirds on Apr 28, 2009 9:53 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I think your interpretation was fine

“You were watching the same game, yes?” is not asking if you were watching this game on TV or following on Gameday. It’s implying you must be following a completely different game because you’re so wrong about what happened. Not that there’s anything wrong with a little snarkiness, but it clearly was a snarky comment, not a “valid question” in the non-snarky way that implies.

by BTown Birds fan on Apr 28, 2009 9:55 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

it had nothing to do with what call was made – keep it in context.

you made a comment summing up all of the pitchers (you clarified it to BP after).

My question wasn’t even remotely in the context of a bad call. You weren’t even directly referencing one.

but by all means, take it as you will – I’m not concerned. Either direction still doesn’t constitute trashing other posters. Which you stated, not I.

twas good times wasn't it

ahh. Pitchers making errors on easy grounders, clutch slips in the outfield by opponents, clutch homers and pitching performances, it was nice.

Your original post

This team has a bunch of decent pitchers,
but in a close game all but Franklin and Motte lose their aggressiveness.

If you can’t keep the discussion in context, you can have it – I don’t care.

My whole point to this was to clarify my comment and make note of either how you chose to take it, or how I literally meant it either one wasn’t “trashing” other posters as you aptly put.

Thanks though.

I thinkit was alot more negative in 07 and 08

seems a little more lighthearted this year.

That being said, I wonder how some people can function as actual human beings if they are this emotional on the fucking internet about a fucking baseball game.

Yeah, I don't think this matches some of the vitriol of the past couple years,

or for that matter the late season near-collapse of 2006. On the other hand, a lot of that stuff came late in the season, and we’re 1/8 through the season with the best record in baseball (at least before tonight)….

3 hits, 11 strikeouts

Yet, we were still in a position to win.

+1

our pitching has been great, and is it so hard to believe that we have just run into average pitchers who pitched well the last few games? Not to mention Jurrjens and Harden are pretty good pitchers.

"I remember once talking to one guy on the Cardinals and asking him what Pujols was like as a teammate. He said something that’s really special, if you think about it. He said: "Albert is so good that you feel like you let him down when you screw up." I thought that had to be the ultimate line that could ever be said about a ballplayer. I build my baseball team around that ballplayer."

If we go 2-3 more days like this then I will worry

until then I will credit to good pitching

Oh I'm not worried about the offense in the long term...

It’s just mind-numbing to see this team consistently get shut down by lefties that are average at best…
