This is disturbing
On the MLB page at CBS sportsline, they're running a poll for best baseball rivalry. We all know the answer, but the wonderful media-influenced US culture has given Yankees a whopping lead of 72%. Can we at least try to make it close!

And a lot more disturbing..
The poll now is currently “Who is the best first baseman?”
Current results:
Who is the best first baseman?
65% Albert Pujols
2% Joey Votto
8% Miguel Cabrera
15% Kevin Youkilis
10% Somebody else
Total Votes: 1363
This helps reinforce my belief that about half the population is stupid.

65% = half?
that’s not the simple fraction that comes to mind.

probably more than 15% said "pujols? I think I heard that name on sportscenter once"
all right, i’ll give you credit for that, then.

I love how they have Miguel Cabrerra and Joey Votto
Instead of Adrain Gonzolez and Lance Berkman.

I'm very surprised
Ryan Howard isn’t one of the options. As a guy who came 2nd and 1st in MVP voting in the last 3 years, and a guy who’s consistently at the top of the HR charts, I’d have thought the casual fan would be more likely to go for him than Joey Votto or even Miggy.
Because chicks dig the intentional base on balls.

He didn't hit for a high enough average :)

If your referring to the Yankees/RedSox rivalry as being in the lead and if we’re to assume that the one you’re referring to is the Cards/Cubs, then I have to agree with the article. How many times have they met in the playoffs this decade? How many times have we played the Cubs in the playoffs EVER?

but I think that's a testament of how strong the rivalry is . . .
it’s one of the strongest in sports, and the Cubs are the worst team in sports history. we never meet in the playoffs, yet it’s as fierce as any other. Can you imagine what it would be like if we did meet as much as the Red Sox and Yankees? The poll isn’t asking which rivalry has the best track record. I think they’re both amazing rivalries; don’t get me wrong. It’s just annoying how 3/4th of the country side with Yankees / Red Sox because of, well, frankly, television telling them it is the best rivalry for ratings.
On with the (good) youth movement!

I don't
I would prefer the Cubs to never make the playoffs again
