100 pitch count games battling is worrisome.
But the odd thing is.. his stuff is downright electric. Just doesn’t seem like he has control on it yet. Reminds me a lot of the early ’07 Adam. (and we know how he finished that year).
Duncan in Wrigley is a catch 22, just keep hoping the bat wins over the glove.

3 Observations
1. I’m pretty sure it will be Freese or Boggs who gets sent down tommorrow when P.J. comes up, but I think it should be Ryan. He and Barden are redundant, and Barden is, you know, better. Even if Ryan is out of options, I’d be ok with sending Barden down. I’d rather having him batting leadoff against lefties, and to me, he looks like a better fielder.
2. We are now 4-2 against lefties. Duncan is showing some actual pitch awareness against lefties. If he could even be just a slightly below average defender, he would be a great player. As a physial therpay student, I see Duncan in the field and wonder if he seriously may have motor planning problems.
3. If A-Rod showed half as much passion for the game as Pujols does, people would like him.

I guess I dont mind Franklin being the closer
as long as everyone is comfy in their role.
I mean, he can’t be worse than Izzy.

The best part about the closer by committee thing is that we ride the hot arm. If Franklin is not named the closer, and Perez has to come in to save his butt in the middle of the 9th, it won’t be as big of a deal.
by NorseKaiser on Apr 16, 2009 6:11 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Franklin should be the one on the mound
w/ a 3-run lead in the 9th. He throws strikes. When it comes to a 1-run lead, that’s where I hope Perez/Motte can eventually come in. I’d rather have Perez/Motte be our Marmol – the strikeout guy – and Franklin be our Gregg (putting it in Cub terms).

Chris Duncan, God love him - here's how he described his defense on the missed fly

If the season ended right this moment, the playoffs would look like:
AL:

NL:

LA/SD (W) at St. Louis
No Boston, no New York (either), no Chicago (either), no Angels, etc.

it's so hard to tell from the video
it was a fabulous curve ball, and it was probably 30 degrees from straight when the catcher caught it. Might have moved 3-4 inches between where it crossed the plate and where it was caught. The CF video is very deceiving on a pitch like that.
You need the video from directly above, showing where it crosses the plate, to really know.
Then again, the umpire was SO awful today that it probably was a ball, just because he called it a strike. I was at work during the real-time game, but from watching the replay, I am amazed only one guy got thrown out of the game for questioning balls and strikes.

All they do is talk about the Yankees and the Sox, and they super-exaggerate ever SSS oddity early in the season. I don't know the guy's name
but the dude who wasn’t a player is very fun. He was totally busting casey’s balls last night for stupid cliches. casey fired back with “when you were a little leaguer, you …”
OTOH, the dude in the middle is terrible. He’s alike a wannabe joe morgan, but the guys on either side actually argue back, which is awesome. It’s on the cusp, now; it could easily become ESPN_MLB, or it could be something really interesting. If the MLBN crew was a baseball mogul player, it would be 68 (91). Lots of potential, but not quite there.

Cuz if so, I would agree that he’s not been that good. Although nowhere near Joe Morgan levels. I’ve really enjoyed Sean Casey so far. He’s pretty funny and has some interesting takes on things.
Their analysis is okay overall, but I really like their coverage. I’ll have it on at night for background while I study and they cover the games really well. Every big situation late in the game you get to see live, basically. Pretty cool.
