by bearcatcardfan on Apr 15, 2009 1:12 AM EDT up reply actions

see

I can come to grips with that. Ankiel can hit, he’s cold right now, but at least he’s got a track record of being able to hit a simple fly ball. Plus you don’t need to waste all your position players in case it goes to 45 innings.

by nota bene on Apr 15, 2009 1:14 AM EDT up reply actions

I mean,

it’s not necessarily that I agree with TLR’s decision to not PH for Ankiel, but there’s at least an argument to be made on Ank’s behalf.

what is larussa's deal with ludwick?

why do i get the feeling that if it was matt holliday sitting on the bench instead of ryan ludwick he would have hit in the 9th? actually, i guess holliday wouldn’t even be on the bench because he would be starting everyday. maybe we should have traded for him. at least we would have that production in the lineup everyday.

Chuck Norris doesn't need a bat.

by bearcatcardfan on Apr 15, 2009 2:46 AM EDT reply actions

or possibly this
6.02c) If the batter refuses to take his position in the batter’s box during his time at bat, the umpire shall call a strike on the batter. The ball is dead, and no runners may advance. After the penalty, the batter may take his proper position and the regular ball and strike count shall continue. If the batter does not take his proper position before three strikes have been called, the batter shall be declared out.

there was a similair discussion on here

around a year ago, give or take, about intentionally walking batters. the pitcher could just touch his mouth four times…

i think someone came to the conclusion that it was all heresy.

they were probably right. the GOB would frown upon such shenanigans. never tempt the fates…

by adiueordie on Apr 15, 2009 2:58 AM EDT up reply actions

Most times when you IBB some one there is a runner on a base other than first

and you want to set up the force play. Touching the mouth would result in the runner advancing as well.
