Memphis Exhibition Sales Going Slowly

In this Commercial Appeal article written by Marlon W. Morgan, Dave Chase, GM of the Memphis Redbirds, points out that ticket sales for the Cardinals two exhibition games against Memphis on April 3 and 4 at AutoZone Park have been lagging.  Could this be because the Cardinals have failed to make the playoffs the last two seasons?  Is this because Memphis area fans don't think St. Louis did enough in the offseason to get back to the playoffs? Are the low ticket sales simply a product of the poor economy?

The University of Memphis Tigers basketball team isn't going to be in the Final Four this season.  The Memphis Grizzlies are their usual bad selves.  One would think there would be more interest in baseball.  Memphis has a PDC agreement with St. Louis signed through 2012.  AutoZone Park is still one of the nicest minor league baseball facilities in the country.  I knew ticket sales would be down from 2007 and the first Civil Rights Game.  AutoZone Park might not be at even half capacity this weekend.
