Who's on your fantasy team?

Sorry for the casual post, but I had my draft last night and I'm wondering who is on your team and how you feel about it.

I have...

C-Chris Iannetta

1B-Adam Dunn

2B-Mike Aviles

3B-Adrian Beltre

SS-Jimmy Rollins

CF-Carlos Beltran (in the 4th round!)

OF-Magglio Ordonez, Corey Hart

BN-Mark Reynolds, Adam LaRoche, Jose Guillen (I regret it already), and Mike Lowell

SP-Franciso Liriano (I took him too early), Josh Johnson

RP-Jonathan Papelbon, Huston Street

P-Carp, Jose Arredondo, Aaron Cook, and Kenshin Kawakami

I inexplicably have 2 pitchers who play in the mountains. Whoops.

i'll be that guy

nobody cares about your fantasy team, and this isn’t what fanposts are meant for.

How unexpected.

The fan post nazi strikes again! MOAR SPECULATION ON WHO WILL BE IN THE STARTING LINEUP!!!! MOAR SPECULATIVE TRADEZ! These two topics are SOOOO different and more appropriate than fantasy. We must have MOAR of them!

If you don’t care about my fantasy team, then don’t read my post about fantasy baseball.

the newbies strike again

i’ll just sit back, relax, and let the mods take care of this one. you’ve just been flagged son. maybe next time you’ll actually put some thought into your posts instead of going off & calling people names & insulting how this site is run.

how does someone with only 27 comments come to the conclusion that they know how VEB should be run better than it is anyway?

I was thinking of something similar

But what I was thinking of posting was a bit more detailed. Something more like what fourstick posted. Explain your league, your team, etc. Basically create a fanpost dedicated to fantasy talk and when it overruns create another one. Similar to how we did the hotstove topics but for during the season. That way we can have a place on VEB to discuss fantasy yet keep it contained.

Good idea

It’d be nice to have a dedicated fantasy post, especially as there’s a VEB league running on yahoo this year with 14 of us playing it!

Because chicks dig the intentional base on balls.

Holy S***

That’s one hell of a starting pitching staff you’ve assembled there. Unless there’s only 5 teams in your league you’ll run away with the Strikeouts in 5X5 and probably the WHIP too.

10 teams

I can hardly believe I got away with this! it helped that hardly anyone was there for the live draft… I took Lincecum first round I think… it would be interesting to see that pitching staff in action!! the only area where I might be weak is the bullpen, but they will perform only as well as our bullpen does, heh

I set up my league

so that the scoring doesn’t use rbi’s etc. it uses WHIP, TB, assists, etc

also

I chose Ianetta, Berkman, Utley, Derosa, Dunn, Pena, Choo, Werth, Bradley, and Dukes because they were ranked high on my OAR stat list

My non-dynasty money league team...

16 team league – 29 total rounds, drafting 8th, serpentine draft – 14 position players, 9 pitchers, 6 reserve (including minors):

C: McCann
1B: M. Cabrera
2B: B. Roberts
3B: G. Atkins
SS: K. Greene
MI: J. Peralta
CI: J. Giambi
OF: R. (or D.?) Ankiel
OF: J. Cust
OF: S.S. Choo (sounds like a boat…)
OF: L. Milledge
OF. A. Ethier
UT: M. Ramirez
UT: R. Ibanez

SP: A. Harang
SP: E. Bedard
SP: C. Billingsley
SP: F. Carmona
SP: T. Lincecum
RP: B. Lyon
RP: J. Devine
RP: J. Arredondo
RP: J. Motte
BN: B. Penny
BN: A.J. Burnett
BN: J. Jurrjens
BN: K. Kawakami
BN: N. Swisher
BN: E. Burriss

No Stolen bases, and I went cheap on saves and waited one round too long to get Francisco. I do have 9 guys projected to hit better than 20 homers and 3 pitchers who struck out 200 hitters last year. I also expect Harang and Carmona to have big bounceback years after being hurt last season. We adjust rosters daily (which is stupid, but this isn’t my league to run, it’s my dad’s), hence the high amount of pitchers on my bench — I can swap them in and out each day to get the most projected starts possible, then trade off a couple at the deadline for offense when I’m near the pitching limit. I won this league last year using this strategy and they decided not to change it in the offseason, which surprised me.

Also, it’s a good thing we don’t count defense — I could have Ramirez, Ibanez, Swisher, and Cust in my outfield….UGH!!!

Hey guys:

friendly Cub fan here with a question.

What’s your guys’s opinion on Jason Motte?

I picked the guy up because he looks like he has the potential to be a really good closer. I hadn’t even heard of him before even though I follow the Cubs a lot, would think I would have heard his name before.

p.s. I have Adam Wainwright on my team also so I’ll definitely be rooting for a good game and a ND when he faces the Cubs :P

Motte is probably going to be a very good closer

It is hard to find a pitcher who throws as hard as him AND throws a ton of strikes. The only question is whether La Russa will trust him after he first struggles.
