2. D Jones
3. C Rasmus
4. P Kozma
5. B Wallace

motte
has only 11 IP in the majors, still a prospect. although he probably will be on the 25 man roster when the season starts barring injury or the inability to throw anything but a 95-97 mph 4-seam fastball (hopefully he developed a slider or at least a cutter before spring training starts)

could be an interesting topic
how are you defining favorite? What’s the criteria?
by _pistol_ on Feb 2, 2009 12:00 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
I think you get to define who's your favorite
maybe you just have a hunch about some players, maybe you like who they are, maybe you just look at their stats.

Have been Cardinals, but not everyday...
1) Essix Snead (out of 188 times reaching base by BB or H, he stole 109 bases and was caught 35 other times in 2000)
2) Stubby Clapp (hit .302 with .392 OBP in 2002)
3) Jimmy Journell (career 3.02 ERA and 1.25 whip)
4) Adam Kennedy (1999 SS who hit .305 – where could THAT guy be)
5) Kevin Witt (2004 .306 ba, .345 obp, .945 ops, 36 hr, 107 rbi)

While I was looking through...
minors.baseball-reference.com to find stats and names of former favorites, it was rather bizarre the ages of the majority of the AAA players on the Cardinals in the 90’s and early 00’s. A lot of 28-30 year old players. But it does explain why the farm teams were nothing spectacular then.

5. Mark McCormick- A lot of people would have chosen amputation by now.

hmmmm
Rasmus
Freese
Wallace
Jones
Walters (gotta have one pitcher in there, but he needs to work on limiting BBs if he wants to break the rotation this year sometime down the road…..when piniero falters or carp gets injured and the cards realize they should of gotten ben sheets…course he could be injured too by that time…..)

Henley – I’m distantly related to him
Wallace
Jones
Salas
Perdomo – Get something back for Reyes
by soccerfreak on Feb 3, 2009 12:22 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Perdomo was...
left unprotected by the Cardinals and became a Rule V draft pick and is not with the club anymore as long as he stays on the 25 man roster of the Giants.

My old-school favs
1. Paul Coleman (largely due to his kick-ass Topps #1 draft pick baseball card)
2. Mike Milchin (drafted as a pitcher but Whitey kept saying we should just make him a hitter…)
3. Rod Brewer (always thought he should’ve gotten a serious look)
4. Paul Ellis (power hitting catcher)
5. Basil Shabazz (loved the name)
6. Darond Stovall (St Louis kid…)
by airhad on Feb 4, 2009 12:15 AM EST reply actions 0 recs
1. Jess Todd
2. Lance Lynn (high, high hopes)
3. PJ Walters
4. Clayton Mortensen (rejected from so damn many trades in my dynasty league that I just started to like him)
5. And of course, Matt Wieters
