Around SBN: Jerry Sandusky's Wife Tries To Run A Reporter Over

"I can see people out there saying, 'How can we feel sorry for these overpaid, pampered guys?' Baseball players have the attitude, 'Hey, we're not asking for anybody to feel sorry for us. We know we have a good deal.' But one of the problems is, they buy into the idea that they shouldn't have these issues. They're very hard on themselves.

"Just because somebody gives you money and fame doesn't mean it gives you wisdom, common sense or maturity. The reality is, ballplayers are in an extremely demanding environment that produces stress they're not trained to deal with. It's a pressure cooker, and over time that stress can build up and take a real toll.''

Very interesting

It always pissed me off when I read comments on any story involving Khalil Greene on the P-D website (yeah, I know I shouldn’t read the comments). It’s as though 50% of the readership is totally lacking compassion of any kind.

I hope that Duchscherer’s openness about his experience influences public opinion to some extent. I’m tired of hearing assholes talk about not feeling sorry for someone with millions of dollars.

I'm afraid it won't.

People will just say he’s whining again. It bothers me that athletes are supposed to be some kind of superhumans that don’t have normal human feelings or emotions and are always 100% in control of their minds. I guess any kind of celebrity to some extent, although lots of actors and singers went through college where you learn a lot of this stuff as I’m experiencing first hand.

Who needs affection when you can have blind hatred?

To clarify

some athlete go to college but the athletes here have a very different experience than lot of students. And some people are just naturally disposed for mental problems that are very hard to control. If you’re thrown under more stress than most people I assume it’s even harder.
