My (largely negative) experiece at Dodgers Stadium last night
Hello all- long time lurker, first time poster. I'm a Missouri boy living in LA, longtime Cards fan, who went to the game in LA last night; in Cards gear, of course. By my count, there were about 500 Cards fans there against 54,000 Dodgers. Which is usually no problem. But things got really scary as soon as we walked in at the top of the first. People throwing peanuts and drinks, yelling threats, etc.
Suffice to say, and I am not exaggerating, I feared for my safety on more than one occasion. My friend Andrew, who I went with, wrote on his blog about it, which is what I linked to.
Don't know if anyone else has had another negative experience at a playoff game in a rival city, but whoo boy, it was kind of scary last night. I took one for Cardinal Nation, I tells ya.

Are You Serious?
With all the success the Cardinals have had with LaRussa, why wouldn’t you want TLR back?

Wow, that sounds pretty bad
hope you had a better experience in game 2 (with the crowd, of course, presumably not the result…)

I was at both games as well
There was certainly a lot of shit talking and veiled threats, but I didn’t fear for my safety. I enjoy the occasional harassment and certainly expected it, being in enemy territory, but quite frankly I thought the “you suck you pussy” comments were pretty dull and I was hoping for more original comments. My response of “you stay classy LA” was taken well. Everybody tends to be a fan of Ron Burgundy after-all.
What sucked the most was sitting in traffic for two hours trying to leave. I don’t know who decided to build a stadium in LA that feeds 50,000 people into 1 lane on the highway, but wow.
Anyway, I’m hoping to get back down to LA from San Francisco for game 5, so scream your hearts out back in the Lou and bring the boys back out for one more chance. I can say without a doubt that in speaking to those fans they did not expect to win either of those games and I’d imagine some of that will rub off on the team if we can win a couple games this weekend.
