Didn't have the opportunity to watch the game but I certainly hope the Cardinals have shaken all the cobwebs from their game by Monday.

To continue a comment from last night

I found a pic on yahoo of my wife’s friend on the Twins shaking hands with Mauer, so I’ll ask him this winter how overwhelming his dreaminess is.

Well just got back from St. Louis

And I was a witness to the WORST 3 innings in Cardinal baseball history on Friday night… LIVE. Yes I was there for the worst game since TESS. The bullpen just completly shit the bed and Tony was Tony. Man what a heartbreaker for the fans and for Adam. I was sitting next to a group of fans that wanted Kyle to be thrown off the team. I thought one guy was going to run on the field and tackle Kyle. It was pretty intense. The booing was justified that night. Yeah even the “best fans in baseball” have a right to boo the hell out of the shit that we saw. Fans started leaving in droves during the 8th inning. I have never seen so many disgusted and pissed off people in one setting in my life.

After watching the team implode like this I must confess I am REALLY concerned that they will be lucky to get one win in the NLDS. The team is in a HUGE rut right now. I listened to today’s game on the radio and the errors and the double plays ending run scoring chances are NOT what you want going into the playoffs. I just hope they can somehow get their spirits up and the bats can catch fire in LA and they can turn it around and quit playing sloppy baseball…but right now I really have my doubts. It kills me to say it.

The highlight for me on Friday night was getting to see Ozzie Smith and Vince Coleman at the game. Two of my favorites when I was a teenager following the Cards. Both got great standing ovations!!

I went to Shannon's after the game

and saw Mike and Vince laughing it up like two long time friends. Mike gave Vince a hug even A really cool sight to see. Vince was getting cheers at Shannon’s as well…all kinds of people shouting “Vince!!”. He looked like he was really enjoying himself. I did hear Vince tell Shannon that he was looking for a job and wanted to work for the Cards in some fashion?? I wasn’t sure if he was joking or not. I assume this was on the air for Shannon’s show.

Ludwick never gets back rubs.

Boog, Skippy, Tyler Greene, Ank…anybody young and lithe gets back rubs.

He won’t touch Smoltz. Too old.

I have to give the CLH credit for the twink comment. We were watching a game and I pointed out that Luddy doesn’t get backrubs from Dave very often, and he told me that Luddy wasn’t enough of a twink. (tee hee!)

isn’t an error charged to the IF who throwns the ball, instead of the IF who’s receiving the ball?

they had an inflatable sex doll that was bounced around the park. Was hilarious.

Started out in the upper deck and then at some point got bounced down into the field boxes…

I prefer Irish whiskey, bourbon, etc. and leave the gin and vodka behind.

I had Irish coffee the other day and it was lovely.

I think rum can go either way. Hot buttered rum at a winter party? YUM. Or glogg.

Tony messing with Ryan
Four innings after scolding Brendan Ryan for an indefensible baserunning mistake and two innings after removing him for a pinch hitter, manager Tony La Russa approached his shortstop and told him to grab a helmet.

He was going back in if the leadoff hitter reached base in the ninth.

“Unless he got a double because Brendan showed he can’t run off second,” La Russa said later. “I told him it was a special re-entry rule in the last weekend. He got his helmet. He was ready. … Just a little levity. Guys in the dugout got a kick out of it.”

6ly, that's bullshit he gets picked on by Tony

fucking bullshit. any other guy on the team does that, and he says nothing. it’s bad enough he yanked him, then fucks with him? that’s bullshit. Boog needs to go off on the old man & tell him he can shove his bullshit up his ass. he’s done way more good than bad for almost two seasons now, and Tony’s still yanking him from games. why doesn’t he yank Dick when he swings at 3-0? or K’s 3 times in a game & leaves 5 guys on base? why didn’t he yank thurson the 20 times this season he’s fucked up running the bases? why doesn’t he say something to Albert about his poor base running? he’s screwed up way more than Boog has this year.

Albert gets a pass because he's The Star

Tony does pick on Boog a lot…but that’s better than not giving a shit, imo. He wouldn’t put forth the effort to pick on him if he didn’t think there was potential for improvement.

I think Boog can handle it. At least he hasn’t ridden the bench this whole year.

yes, Boog earned the stay

but he was still the default choice at SS: Khalil’s head imploded; T Greene couldn’t hit; and Lugo is no longer an ML caliber SS.
Tony should be grateful that Boog averted what could have been a bad situation, and maybe he is; it’s hard to tell.
I hadn’t heard the ‘get a helmet, you’re going back in’ story, but my initial reaction is that Tony is an ass.
One thing I never worry about with B Ryan is his intensity and hustle.

Really people?

When the coach jokes around with you it means he likes you.

And as Ryan’s High school coach pointed out; Ryan is the type of player you have to stay on top of. Managers can not treat all players the same because players respond different to different methods.

you could not be more wrong. Tony does not like him. he likes to pick on him & make fun of him.

amen to Thurston

His little bump buddy needs to get that kind of heat, but he’ll probably get a ticket to the postseason, and it won’t be from stubhub.

Boog can handle it, though. He’s had worse. I was cruising the old threads and guess what I find! A rumor that Jim Edmonds picked on him on a regular basis, including freezing his uniform. He’s been team whipping boy a long time.

Hopefully he won’t just, I dunno… snap, one of these days.

I don't know

I think the sight of Boog snapping would be hilarious

I think this is Tony joking with him.

I think that’s a good thing.

grrr

just saw the replay of the Lugo throw over first play; that’s definitely Albert’s fault.
Why DUCK because the pitcher is also covering first when you are in FRONT of him. It’s similar to a CF calling off a corner outfielder on a ball hit right between them.
And since when has Albert become cautious?

OT: my ESPN reform act

they could cut back to only 16 hours of broadcasting a day if they simply eliminated any coverage or mentioning of: Brett Favre; Tiger Woods; Tim Tebow; and Michael Vick.

Speaking of Favre: the most hypocritical line of the week, “you just have to let it go.”
(maybe he was referring to one of his infamous hurl the ball at no-body passes).

Hurl the ball at no-body?

Maybe Lugo is a fan!

I kid I kid…

You could cut that back to about 12 hours if you also banned

banned the mention of Derek Jeter and the Yankees.

you could actually cut it back to a hlaf-hour show if you cut out all the ass-kissing

not that Boog is reading

but he better take care of his ticket requests today
and then turn off his cellphone until November

Going back to the caption

what happens if all the rumors are true and Prince gets traded this offseason to a team that won’t put up with that untucking nonsense? How will he get by?

The fucking Cards better win today so I don’t have to see that crap anymore.
