The Record for RBI by a pitcher in 1 game is 9 by Tony Cloninger of the Atlanta Braves on July 3, 1966 against the San Francisco Giants. Cloninger hit two grand slams and a single to account for the 9 RBIs.

The Cardinls have never gone to a World series in a year ending in 9. Every other year they have: 1930, 31, 42, 82, 43, 34, 44, 64, 2004, 85, 26, 46, 2006, 67, 87 , 28 & 68. But no 9s, Could this be the year?

Carp hurts chances

Thanks to this huge run outburst. All of the Lincecum rooters will claim that Carp has more wins thanks to his tremendous run support. (Which was lower than Lincecum’s before today.) (Which Carp has given up a total of 1 run during his last 3 outings, but will only have 1 win to show for it. It is a tough vote for Cy Young. Carp has probably been the best pitcher, but those missed games early in the season are tough to overlook. (However, what if Carp had ANY run support in his last 2 games (and 1 other from earlier in the season) and finished the season 20-4. I think he wins the thing even with missing several game to the DL.

How about handin' me another helpin' of those mashed taters...thank you very much!

by Elvis on Oct 1, 2009 3:16 PM EDT reply actions

Lincecum's supporters are not in the position of having to based their arguments on such weak evidence.

By measures of value, Lincecum blows Carp/Waino away.
