SW MO Cards fans

I was just wondering how many fans in the VEB-dom are from the Springfield/SW MO area? I see quite a few little snippets about people in the area but thought it would be neat to actaully get a firm idea on who was from the Ozarks.

I am from Springfield, attended MO St. and live just North of the city now. I try to catch as many Springfield Cardinals games as possible and hopefully even more this year with D. Jones and Wallace starting the season there.(fingers crossed)

Anyone else?

How is Hammons Field?

I plan on taking in a couple of games up there in July on my way up to Kansas City. I wonder if it’s as nice as Arvest Ballpark in Springdale and Dickey-Stephens Park in North Little Rock.

Hammons is a great ballpark

I don’t know anything about Arvest or D-S, but the Springfield Cards have been the Texas League’s organization of the year twice since its existence and Hammons is a big reason why.

To nomar34, I’m from Springfield as well; grown up here my whole life. I go to Drury right now. thegodfather and I try to catch as many Spfd games during the summer as possible, and this summer we’re going to be making more trips up to STL to watch the big guys play. I’m hoping the Walrus will be mashing in Spfd for the first few months this year too, can’t wait!

Excellent place

to see a ballgame. I recommend the $20 tickets, I think they are called reserved or something. You are in a seperate seating with all you can eat food and non-alcoholic drinks. Usually I just get general admission and sit wherever I can. There really isn’t a bad seat in the house. And to answer nomar34 I live in the Springfield area, but currently work in Salem, Mo.

The Redbird Roost

is the all-you-can eat section. Yeah, it’s great!

Yup

That’s it. It seems expensive until you buy a soda and a hot dog. In a lot of ways, including concession pricing, it’s like seeing a major league game!

+1

The hot dogs aren’t as good as the expensive ones downstairs but who care, they’re “free!”

Nachos?

Are they free?

Free nachos would free up money for more beer. Which, as we all know, is necessary.

by mynameistyler on Jan 28, 2009 12:25 PM EST up reply actions

Yep

Free nachos, hot dogs, popcorn, soda, chips, and cookies. They usually have something else totally random too, like ravioli. I think the seats were $22.50 each last year. They have a great view too.

Have you never been to

a Springfield game? I go to 20-30 a year, they’re great. Hammons is a great park. I definitely recommend it.

me too

especially considering it’s 10 degrees outside & over a foot of snow on the ground. but at least i’m not up by the lake with over 100+inches of snow on the ground.

and no, i’ve never been to a game, but i’ve seen the park many times in my travels down there. my cousin gets free seats from her work & her & her husband probably go to as many games a year as you do & they love it.

my other cousins wife stepdad literally built Hammons Field. next time i’m down there he promised me a behind the scene tour. and yes, i’ll definitely take some pics & post them in a fan shot for everyone.

Sounds good

I’ve been in the indoor training facility, but that’s all I’ve seen. I’m excited to see the pictures that you get.

I go to Mo. St.

I live in Spfd. now that im out of the Corps and am going to Mo. St. I sat in the Roost twice last year and in the luxury boxes with my uncle who works for Conco. Definately would suggest the roost the view is just as good and the food is free. Also got to see Craig hit a mammoth homerun over the score board in left center and watched the game they lost something like 18-3.

GO BEARS!

Yeah, I go to Mo state too. I’m already ready for the AA Cards to start playing. I haven’t had a chance to go to many games the last couple of years but my schedule is a lot more open this semester.

Joplin

but I’m only around here about 10 days a month. Work shifts me around quite a bit. However, I usually catch 20 or so games at Hammons, it’s a great facility.

Live a few blocks from the stadium

Have season tickets. Totally worth a roadie, especially if you can swing a trip to the lake, or better yet, stay there. The third-base side of the field is a lot shadier if you go to a late afternoon or early evening game, which can make a big difference in the comfort department.

Park at Ozarks Technical Community College, a couple of blocks north of the stadium. You’ll have to cross a busy street, but it’s free and no farther away than many of the pay lots.
