Franklin and Flores warming up
Chris Perez has already lost his job.
Give me a break, Tony.
I wish someone would take his security blanket (Franklin) away from him.
this should be interesting

well in Tony's defense,
YP did blow his last two chances. and those two are more than he’s given any rookie closer right?
i’m really surprised he got the chance to close it out last night.

But Flo did his job,
he got the lefty out. As we like to say in my house, “He had one job to do and he did it.”

because he believes
flo is flo and uggla can’t change that
but it is a curiosity that he plays small sample stats in some cases and then goes against large sample stats in situations like this

.179 vs righty's according to south beach
28 of his HR’s are hit vs a righty.

Milwaukee lucked out

by Cards Fan in Chitown on Sep 6, 2008 9:40 PM EDT reply actions
Huh? Milwaukee "lucked out?"
Ben. Sheets pitched a complete game shut out and out dueled Peavy who gave up only 1 run in 7 innings.
Now, I only read the box score, so maybe I’m missing something-but it read like a pitchers duel, and Sheets came out on top-5hits, 1 BB. Ben stepped up tonight.
The Cardinals really should look into signing him…..
She isn't crazy, she's just not impressed.
1st and 3rd
2 outs and he got away with a couple pitches that were drilled just foul.

Went to the Wat (temple) yesterday. Check out Wat Arun on line. LIt incense, poured water
and got soaked in a downpour. Seems to have been strong enough magic to ward off the F-demons. At least for today.
Good win. . .

does this mean trl has given up on yp? or is this just a temp thing? i like franklin, but in the 7th inning and NOT the 9th

by Cards Fan in Chitown on Sep 6, 2008 9:43 PM EDT up reply actions
All the young guys get the day off.
In the ’pen, that is.
My God people.....
The guy just needed to sit this one out. If Izzy, or Eck, or anybody else were the closer, there’d be games they didn’t close out too.
Yeah
they’d be on the third night in a row.
Spin it how you like, Ryan Franklin is the new closer.
by Hardcore Legend on Sep 7, 2008 3:41 AM EDT up reply actions
I don't care if Aaron Miles is the closer as long as the job gets done at this point.
Long term Perez makes sense.
Alot of MR's.....
It would have been his 3rd appearence in four days. Had he not blown two saves, you “might” run him back out there, though with a rested guy like Franklin, maybe not. Fact is, he blew two saves during that time, and probably could have used the “break”.
As for Franklin being the new closer, I can’t tell if you are being serious or not. I’d almost guarantee that Perez gets the next save opportunity though.
A rested guy like Franklin?
He threw 2 innings yesterday and left the mess on the mound that Motte came in to.

How about.....
“more rested than Perez”. You know what I was saying.
We get it though, you hate TLR.

At least the Reds decided
to make the Cubs work for it. Four runs in the bottom of the eighth to make it 11-5.
And now a slam
in the bottom of the ninth makes it 14-9.
And that's the final score.
Cubs’ losing streak is over. Too bad we didn’t take advantage of their losses (and the Brew Crew’s) to move up in the standings.
