Game 119 Overflow
Nice job of getting to Big Z a bit early on, guys. Looks like the wind may be blowing out a bit, though, so we need to keep it up.

Go Cards!

Hmm
If we can light up Cardinal Killer Zambrano to the tune of 9 runs in 5 innings, I don’t think that summer is necessarily over (per the post today).
There’s a lot of baseball left. We get the WC, there is an EPIC Cubs/Cards NLCS.
"Jimmy told me, 'If you keep it right there at two runs and no more, we'll win this game,'" Wainwright said. "'Me and Albert will get the job done."

coming into thread after game is half over
it’s cool to come into the thread after half the game, and reading the posts about the lineup, lopez, glaus at 6th, etc.
maybe it’s luck, or maybe, just maybe tlr isn’t a total moron?

Well that's just a good example
of what maddens people. But Lopez actually hits well against Zambrano, so that’s not such a big deal. There’s a certain amount of randomness in everything. When Tony makes serially inexplicable decisions and the random breaks go the wrong way, then people despair. It’s just human nature.

we need to keep other teams from assuming too much confidence going into the late innings.. bad combo to discourage our players and encourage theirs. winning 9-8 is still a win, but we need more shut downs if we are to make a run at the wc.

Oddly enough, when i read this morning's post, it gave me MORE hope.
It seems like all year, everyone has been saying how it’s been a great ride so far, but now it’s time for the cards to fall back down to earth…BUT THEY HAVEN’T. I don’t know how many times that type of thing has been posted here, and just to spite us, they keep on winning. Now, it actually seems like they have a great shot to make the playoffs with pu, glaus, and luddy hot at the same time and carpenter back, I hope they do listen to stuff like RB posted this morning and keep thinking they’re underdogs and keep proving everyone wrong!

Fox trivia question
The question they asked today was a bit misleading. When they were saying it on the air, they kept saying, “Who was the last Cub to lead NL rookies in hits?” The correct answer for that is Jerome Walton and the question was rather pertinent to Fukudome leading all rookies in hits.
But the question that was on the screen was, “Who was the last Cubs rookie to lead the NL in hits?” (the last NL hits leader who was both a Cub & a rookie) 1.5 million internet dollars to the first person who can answer correctly
That said, the Cubs do deserve my pity, but never my support.

A St. Louis native, who was only 5'7
Man, he would be idolized in Cardinal nation today, from St. Louis and small/gritty.

Yesterday
I was so ticked at the outcome I felt I knew would happen. The i got an email from my cousin whose husband is a cub fan.(he’s a nice guy though) He’s going in to have hus heart looked at(hes like 39-40) may have to have open heart not sure yet…so that put it all in prospective for me.
Being on the west coast I got angels Yanks so i wsa surprised when I kept seeing the score on my XM.. and even better they kept it.
Things mentioned b4 the game- AP not big vs cubbies, get to big Z early and Glaus needs to do something…funny how things work.
I can't believe i gave up a homerun to that punch and judy hitter-major league 2

Good feelings
I’m from Omaha, NE and took my son out to Chicago to watch the game – our first time in Chicago… this game was more than I could have hoped for. My son is 7 and he’s going nuts… and so am I in getting to see him develop the same love for this Cardinal team I have. What a great day -
Thanks Cards fans – especially the guy who sat one row in back of me and bought me a beer just because I was also rooting for our team.

Lebron James has to be the worst
interview. I have watched over and over his interviews for olympics..he does terrible. I guess it’s hard when you can’t just talk about you forever.

Michael Jordan school of interviews
“Just tried to get a good shot.”
“they played great. We just had to play harder.”
etc. etc. etc.
He’s actually usually pretty talkative wehn they grab him after the game. maybe it’s an adrenalin thing.

So yeah, I totally went to a wedding today
didn’t get to see the game but did get a 1964 World Series Champion Dick Groat autographed baseball from a close friend of his. That was pretty awesome.

You missed a good one
It was about time we knocked Zambrano on his duff. Getting that monkey that was Big Z off the Card’s back sure feels good.
Although I will say this for Zambrano…considering he had maybe the worst game of his career today..he didn’t seem to be too bothered by it in the dugout after he was taken out of the game. Looked pretty mellow. Of course he could have gone in the clubhouse and took a bat to a tv when the cameras weren’t around…..
